I just would like the Flyers to add some speed and creativity to the team, tired of the good ol' Canadian boys who are 2-way grinders down the middle. - Glak18
In recent weeks I've watched more of Julius Honka, Nikolaj Ehlers, & Ivan Barbashev |

Bill, You're tied into Dallas; what do they need and who's available that the Flyers might need? Unless its a minor deal, I can't see the Flyers upsetting the Forward line up. Defense on the other hand has been an issue. I'd love to see any upgrade but not sure who they'd want from the Stars.
I don't doubt TB being there. Sure it's all business... But, there's got to be some bad blood between the Flyers and Stevie Y. They're not going to trade Hedman. So, who do the Flyers want? (Maybe Stamkos is worst than published...S. Downie back to TB???) - leon neon
Dallas scouting is interesting, (Dailey is rumored heavy), why Dallas would shop him is perplexing
Maybe Tampa wants Vinny back, remember before they CBO'ed him, they tried to trade him to Detroit, (the league nixed it), so Detroit could buy him out & being a UFA he would have been resigned by Tampa for 1/2 his contract, (which is where his contract is now).
Stamkos is still not cleared, & Filppula now has a broken leg, so maybe they are looking to bring him back? |

They don't. They hit the reset button, put in a few good practices as they reconvene and then treat it essentially like a sprint to the finish line. - bmeltzer

I understand that, most will be gone in top 10. I'll get more realistic when summer approaches. |

Honka is very interesting to me, especially his zone passing. Replacement for Kimmo because Streit is not that guy. |

Junior regular seasons end around March 16. You could start then or as soon as the NHL regular season ends. |

My thoughts were that they maybe able to pick up Downie cheap... And, he should know the system. Downie has really clicked with the Flyers. Who do the Flyers get. I'd be happy with picks, prospect - and move up a rookie into the line up.
I don't know much about Dailey... Would we like him. What type of defenseman is he? Defensive, Offensive, or Two-way. How's his passing (first pass out of the zone). |

I was at the Avs game. It seemed like they were trying to put Downie out in a lot of offensive situations. Given his impending UFA status and trouble staying in the lineup I can definitely see him being shopped. |

Daley is a mobile D man with speed. 2nd pairing type guy but not physical. Used to play with Grossmann. He would come in and help balance out our D pairings more than anything. |

He's very steady, reliable, good mobility, can play 20 plus minutes, but is undersized & can get outmuscled down low.
Not a high scoring defenseman but reliable
Edit, not sure what we would give up, (if this is the reason for a possible transaction) |

A physical player like him, who plays with an edge, yet has 2 concussions this season alone makes him much less of a player.
He seems still affected by this. |

I cant find a good offer for us to give up. He has two or three years left on his deal so he wont come cheap. I dont think id be prepared to give up Read for him. Downie and a 2nd rounder? I think the Stars could find a better offer tbh. |

It may sure be that but I think part of it has to do with Berube keeping his physical guys on such a short leash. If Downie was playing for Ruff I think he'd have him stirring the pot every time he hit the ice. |

Daley has excellent wheels and is a good puck mover. Provides some sporadic offensive production. Competent coverage defender. Not physical at all and is undersided (although solidly built). Turns over his fair share of pucks but that's because he handles the puck a lot. Good passer for most part.

Yeah, that makes no sense.
Only Oilers players Id have any interest in acquiring are Eberle, J Schultz or Nurse. |

The problem in the Grossmann discussion, for me, isn't that he shouldn't be on the team or in the NHL, it's that his position shouldn't be an assured one when other guys who play poorly are being shuttled in and out.
Sure LA won with Scuderi & Mitchell. But they also had Drew Doughty & Slava Voynov. Nobody should be arguing that you don't need a a mix, because you do. What they are saying, that gets pushed aside when stats come into play, is that one 4-5-6 defenseman who blocks shots & hits should be as subject to being benched as an offensive minded youngster or a veteran who scores from set piece offense when they play like crap.
Even the most ardent Grossmann defenders admit he had a bad January. Guys like Gustafsson, Meszaros, and Schenn would have a bad game or two & get benched, while Grossmann was allowed to work his way through an entire month long slump. That's as much my issue as anything.
On top of that, I don't think Grossmann has been that good all season. That's open to debate, of course, but it's no less valid than those who defend Grossmann with no evidence besides their opinion. I'm not going to participate in a Richard swinging contest over this, because its futile and annoying to deal with some on this board.
So, have at it. |

Even though he's signed for 2 more years, he is 30 years old, I don't like Read in that deal, & yes, it seems they could get more then Downie and a 2nd round pick |

Please, god no.
although Luke for Gagner becomes JVR for Gagner, that makes that deal easier on the stomach. |
