Serious question, why do you guys go to the Leafs board to talk Canucks? It's like going to the thrift shop for a new Armani suit. - Nucker101
Because our fans have some wonderful insight that is lacking in other fan bases...? |

Seriously, maybe next time you guys should stop by when Phaneuf has a -2 night or Kessel has a 5 game goal drought.
I get it if you're just trolling, talking about random poop or a game that is going on but otherwise you're wasting your time. |

I don't, but I will say it's been a while since anything Canucks-related could be equated to an Armani suit. All this talk of tanking is like looking for an Armani knock-off from Bangkok hoping to pass it off for the real thing. |

Yeah, there are quite a few here that are pretty obsessed with the Leafs. - Nucker101
Yeah... I understand, I get it....
Strange, because to really be in the top group of teams, you need to measure yourself against the other top teams, not the bottom teams. That's why the rivalry that we have with Boston has been great, because it's given us a hard, stern lesson in what happens when you quit on a play for just a minute (or ten ), and given the team, and fans, the desire to improve faster |

I think Gillis is a genius, he refuses to ask players to waive ntc so he is making the team so awful in order to have these players go to him to request a trade.

I'd give a lot more than a penny to get Aquillini's thoughts on the subject. No one else's really matter at the end of the day. |

Because it's always the same regurgitated depressing sh!t in here with each poster clinging to his/her ideological rhetoric.
It's one thing to hear that the team is bad from a rival fanbase, but to hear the same whinny crap from within the same fanbase is downright suicidal.
Sedins suck/Gillis blows/ the team is old blablablablablablablablablablalbla.............
There's a level of optimism associated with arguing with Leaf fans because regardless of how bad the team currently is, i doubt we go through ten plus years of utter sh!t like they did. |

It's tough to say regarding the last point, because we have yet to see what Gillis will do once his back is truly up against the wall. I truly do not think that he is that good a GM; not so much due to lack of smarts, but more a lack of creativity.
It's gonna get tough in a few years when your top guys retire, because your current youth will likely be too young to contribute fully, and the guys who are currently in their prime are not (excluding Kesler) the heart and soul guys who you build a team around (most who would be called on in a few years as a veteran presence are not the core guys who are irreplaceable). Gillis is going to have an interesting job, and the decisions that he makes will absolutely impact the teams trajectory. So now the question is that, faced with the worst case scenario of a sinking ship, is Gillis the guy you want as your ship's captain?
This is all hypothetical of course, but can happen, as we Leafs fans (and Sabres fans, amongst others) can attest too all too sadly... |
