Not sure why anyone's pissed. Canuck fans are thrilled with the loss for the tank. Leafs gets a much needed 2 points for a playoff spot. Win-win.

It would be ok if Gillis didn't overpay with too much term to keep the Sedins. Than it would be easy to blow the team up. U guys are stuck now cause of those contracts.

The good thing is no one is drinking the cool aid anymore so Gillis is given a green light to sell
- VANTEL

Yeah no kidding, but I bet we see plenty of empty seats down the stretch regardless of whether or not he buys/sells/holds. What a year for an outdoor game.

You certainly know your Iron Maiden, my apologies. I actually moved beyond 30 year old one-hit wonder bands whose entire fan-base was pre-adolescent boys

Meh, you need veterans that are true professionals off the ice to show the young kids coming up how it's done. I'm fine with selling a few core pieces off and keeping them around. Henrik is still an amazing player, a top 5 playmaker in the the world IMO. Daniel's fallen off a cliff.

Judging by what was being said before the game, I don't know if "thrilled" is the right word. There were a lot of people around here wanting the tank to start "but not until after they beat the Leafs". Honestly, I've never really understood why Canucks fans hate the Leafs so much. It makes perfect sense on our end, when you lose to one team for a decade straight there's lots of bitterness and yeah, it's a big deal when you win one. Why does Vancouver care about the Leafs though?

We got no one else. And for Schroeder, he needs some level of support. He's not a guy that can carry a line on his own.
- AlexF

Schroeder was absolutely awful out there , he's so easy to predict when he's gonna pass.. Especially on that 2 on 1 even though burrows blew it Schroeder was showing pass the whole way in with a clear shot.. For a guy that small he's gotta start playing bigger and mix it up

U guys forget about the Sedins new contracts? How can Gillis justify blowing this team up after signing them to ridiculous contracts?

Can't speak for everyone but I really don't care about the Leafs. Like, not at all. No offense. Even my CHI hatred is gone. My hate on is reserved for LA and SJ.

Henrik is worth that money. He was at or over a PPG before he got injured and tried plying through it.

You spend an awful lot of time in the Leafs thread for someone who doesn't care.

Hank is one of the top 10 centers in the NHL, at seven million he's making market money.

Pretty Ron Maclean like to report a faint rumor so definitely. He's been working in hockey too long.

The only shocking thing is that judged sports like figure skating are still in the Olympics considering how much bullpoop has occurred over the years.

Wasn't all that faint. It was a French sports magazine that broke the story. It was on twitter way earlier today.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you in the Leafs thread a lot too? That's what I don't get. Vancouver fans are always saying they don't care but we see more Vancouver fans (usually trolling) in the Leafs thread than any other fan base.

It's not even about the Leafs so much as it is about having CBC shove them down our throats for many many years. Not so much in today's world though where you can watch any team you want if you have some money.

Fair points. I'm still willing to give him some leash given that he's had trouble stringing games together this season without getting injured.

One win in 10 years sure gets you ladies cocky

By all means, though, enjoy

- Fosco

50 years from now there will a pre-game ceremony on Hockey Night in Canada commemorating this glorious day: the first time the leafs broke, an over a decade long, losing streak to a decimated Vancouver Canucks. 5 leafs players with still be alive and Phil Kessel will look like a 140 year old Chinese lady.

Congrats on your monumental victory
