Ok I just don't want to rebuild again for the like 10th time in like 20 years - kasperrko
Wouldn't be a rebuild. It would be a redo of last offseason. The core is still technically the same, minus AMAC (if you wanna call him a core guy).
So as it looks (not necessarily in this order) after the trade deadline
Nelson JT Okposo
Grabner Strome Lee
Clutterbuck Nielsen Bailey
McDonald Cizikas Martin
de Haan Hamonic
Vis Strait
Hickey Donovan
Carkner
We'll have a few others who could be brought up for the stretch but with all of those guys set to be back next year, we add Reinhart and a couple of real free agents and a goaltender and we're back in business....
Oh...and a friggin coach |

For all of the geniuses crowing about Garth taking Bowman. First of all, it is a 4rth round pick! How many of those will make the Blackhawks roster in the next 5 years? The Isles OTOH still need the picks and may find a gem.
Also, this trade may be more about Rockford than Chicago. If Regin and PMB get sent down it costs the Hawks $75k in cap space and the Icehogs could use some veteran leadership for the kids. Particularly vet forwards who play a D style - which Ted Dent (Hogs coach) seems to have difficulty teaching.
Isles make space for another move and/or bring up a prospect like Strome. I also wouldn't be surprised if Garth now owes Bowman a "favor" down the road. Good deal for both sides.
Many questioned Bowman when he traded for Frolik and Handzus. Said both players were "soft" or their careers were over. Totally turned around Frolik and Zus was worth it just for his minutes and faceoff presence in last year's playoffs - though he defines the word "sucks" this year.
Not sure if Regin or PMB will be a Frolik, Zus, or Rusty Olesz but I will be interested to see what Q can do with them.
Of course, I would have preferred Matt Martin for that or a higher pick.....
Hope the Isles turn the corner. Looks like the talent is coming. Loved your team since Billy Smith was kicking asses.
ps: WTF was Snow thinking with Vanek?Should have made those picks conditional to him signing. |

Nobody is crowing. We know its a minor deal. Those two have been terrible and they are just glad they are gone. You guys got two depth guys at half price for a 4th rd pick in a bad draft. Nobody should be crowing about anything |

He is not going to put Bailey on the third line after Strome and Lee. This coach feels that the rookies have to pay their dues before they can get top 6 ice time. No matter how bad the guy ahead of him is playing.

I don't think anyone suggested he 'took Bowman'. I don't know how anyone could say they took anyone with a return of a 4th round pick .
Still, the majority will tell you, from educated experience, that neither player will offer anything to the big club, so if selling off 4th rounders to boost a Calder Cup run is in the cards, vio condios. I don't see it being impactful for anyone. |

sorry still hoping to find a winger for Tavares. I love Nelson but I think he can fill the second line and move Nielson to the third. We are still one offensive player goaltender and defenseman away.

ii believe most just figured those 2 would walk for at year end, therefore being able to get a pick and save a few bucks was a surprise to most.

I don't see that happening. I think the best they could do is try to trade him by keeping as much of his cap hit as possible and a chunk of his salary. Unfortunately that's not going to happen either. |
