of course you can because joel quenneville apparently can sprinkle magic talent bust over bad/talentless players and make them good...i totally agree - LetsGoIsles
not for nothing Quenneville Capuano not much of a comparison there. He will get the most out of his players while Cappy will be satisfied for whatever |

Yeah, no coach is going to turn PMB and Regin into much more than we saw. A good coach just won't tolerate it as long and keep rolling them out there with important minutes. |

classic double standard scenario:
islanders have PMB and Regin, everyone says they suck.
islanders trade PMB and Regin, everyone says they are great insurance policies and can produce 8-10 minutes a game. - LetsGoIsles

I can understand why some teams might go after Regin because of his speed. PMB was probably just a throw in. And since this draft is pretty weak Garth really didn't get a whole lot for the both of them. I would probably assume Regin will be a healthy scratch for most nights. Like some people were saying that he sucked on our fourth line but Chicago's 4th line is better than our 2nd. - special_k1074
PMB is making 2 million dollars.. fyi. Regin is 700k.. so even 1/2 price I assure you PMB was NOT a "throw in".. especially to a team at the cap limit. |

not to be a dink here, but different team different situation. I thought Frolik to the hawks was a weird move but they turn him into a decent player. Hawks seem to make marginal players look good (Bolland, Bickel, etc) |

It was a bad trade from the second it was made, the other 2 are hard to swallow after seeing what Chara, Bert & Caber became, but they acceptable trades when they happened.

That can happen with reclamation projects, typically young players with good talent. Regin is very vanilla and won't offer much than 7-10 minutes of 4th line play. Frankly, I don't see any way he cracks that lineup. PMB's issues are more of a 'damaged goods' due to injury issue. I just don't think he'll ever be the same. |

B, by far. All Star Spezza, Norris Trophy d-man Chara, (muckalt was irrelevant) for Yashin.
McCabe, to me, was an average dman. Bertuzzi, had he stayed on the island would never had become the player he did in Vancouver. Jokinen was ok. Luongo, for all the crap I've seen the Isles get about dealing him, (deservedly) was always a "really good goalie" bordering on great but he hasn't put a team on his back and won a cup. |

I see PMB actually playing well down there, could produce the same as Bickell but for half the cost. I see them trying to dump that 4m salary soon. |

Slovak GM on Visnovsky: "He say he's ok. He can play. I don't understand why he can't play" (for some reason I hear Ivan Koloff's voice here..)
I wonder if the Isles don't want to risk injury because they 'may' deal Vis as well. |

I hated losing Chara, not that we knew he would win a Norris... I just liked him.
But that trade HAD to be made.. getting Yashin was a good thing for this franchise, Him and Peca were fantastic additions by Milbury & Wang.

on the hogs yes, might be brought up later once they open up more cap space and be the 13th forward. |

At the time, absolutely. In retrospect? Beyond awful. (The Yashin deal, not Peca) |

# 3 because it also led to drafting RDP over Heatley or Gaborik. And thanks for the sweet reminders of mistakes of the past. |

See I argued against it at the time and didn't believe it, nor the Peca deal "had to be made". I liked the potential with Chara, Pyatt and Connolly and loved that upcoming draft. I realize Wang was trying to make a splash and help the team return to relavance but I always felt Yashin's two big seasons in Ottawa were more a product of his surroundings. I don't buy in when people called him 'lazy' or anything, but simply didn't think he was explosive enough to bet the franchise on. |
