I'm still in shock that after making the move for Vanek when our defense and goaltending were absolutely terrible (and before our 10 game winless streak in november and december) that he would make a move like that and not address the glaring weaknesses on the team. You can't say the rebuild is over after making a move for Vanek when you're dressing a 39 year old injury prone goaltender, and Martinek, Carkner and Ness on defense. Snow lost me at that point. Up until then I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

As far as the question of where will the Canucks be without major changes in the summer, I'd still think they'd be pushing for a playoff spot or at least in the mix around 9th or 10th, certainly nowhere near the bottom of the league. You guys have solid goaltending and a fantastic defense. Even with terrible scoring you'd still win close to half your games or more.

Isles need a goalie, another 2-3 NHL defensemen, and at least 1-2 more top six players.

I think there's a difference in giving a "I don't want to show my hand" answer versus what we did hear, which was "No, I'm not changing my mind and will not ask to waive any NTCs".

I'm not saying the local media should act as a GM's truth serum but he's digging himself a hole by iterating so clearly that won't ask his players to waive unless they ask first.

My honest hope is that he's not around here long enough to break his word.
