I can use some help - VANTEL
Ive been really easy on the Sedins over their career. In the past I've been willing to let them have their struggles like any other player. They need to support to win cups with them as our top line. They did so much carrying they deserve patience for an off season regardless of salary. This is pretty bad though.
Still, Im accepting they are on a decline. The GM is at fault for not reading the trend not us fans. There isnt really anything I dislike about them as long as I keep rational about their style of play. I don't ever expect them to do things way out of their character and could never see them saying to the GM, give us more money and we will assume the roll of other top players on other teams. It still comes down to the GM having unreasonable expectations of where these 2 guys can carry this team alone.
kesler is still a 1 series super star. We still dont have a second PP unit since the brief Hodgson unit was producing, and that would go a long way to get us out of a 1st round. We took a team who doesnt score enough goals and gave them a coach who is less offensive minded and replaced Salo and Ehrhoff with a 1 dimensional Garrison. Its clear now that to get full value out of the Sedins you need the right D and and a new line mate from an outside source.
Remember how we all argued(me included) that it was Gillis' additions to the roster that put us past where Nonis couldnt have taken this team. I still believe it to some degree. The problem maybe was it came way too easy for Gillis when he arrived. Maybe he didnt quite believe the very credit that was being given to him because of this.

I considered last year the pardon for Sedins bad year . This is a decline now IMO .
I blame Gillis for not waiting this year as planned and doing a one year at a time as everyone agreed upon |

Hard to disagree with anything you've said. I'd also say his biggest downfall is his unwillingness to admit he's wrong, he strikes me as a guy who probably usually has some trades fall apart do to wanting just a bit more than others are willing to give and thus he risks his expendable assets losing trade value and ends up trading them for less than before. Pure speculation my part of course.
I wonder if he could have moved Ballard at the TDL during his first year here, or even during his 2nd year as his value declined faster and faster until it hit rock bottom. Booth was just a tough one it looked like a decent move but his injuries would have made it tough to even move him until his value hit rock bottom last year, plus the injury that prevented him from being potentially ought out last summer, for all we know Gillis had a off season plan that included the buyout of Booth before his injury took place.

For another bad contract, like a Tuomo Ruutu, Rene Bourque, Dany Heatley, Martin Havlat, etc if the hope is that one of them could turn it around or be more useful than Booth but then bought out just like Booth would have anyways. I'd take a chance on Tuomo Ruutu.
I highly doubt it's possible otherwise. |

As long as they don't lose on sat...it will not be easy being a Canucks fan in the center of the universe if we lose. Common boys please lay a beating on the leafs. |

Of the last 10 games him and Kassian have been our best forwards for action . Higgins is going to be our top scorer , how sad is that |

I wonder what a contender would pay for Higgins....I think he's a really under-appreciated player. |

Given where we are we'd be far more likely to get a pick just outside of where the cream of this draft will be picked. |
