He also shopped Edler just months after signing him to an extension that had a NTC kicking in a week after the draft.


I say that he'll still consider moving the NTC core, but it won't happen until after the summer. Edler is the guy I could maybe see being dealt now, but anyone else is highly unlikely.

On the plus side boys....if we are stuck with this team next year, we might as well roll out the red carpet for Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel....

Yeah, I don't believe him. He did say that only the Sedins have full no movement clauses..I wonder if the guys with speculated "full NTC's" do have a shortlist of certain teams that they'd be willing to waive for(hometowns, nice cities, contenders, etc.).

He danced around the issue really, said the only players to have full "no movement" are the twins. He just wouldn't come out and say it on public record, but I think he would trade guys like Hansen, Higgins, Edler and Kesler if the price was right. If he wouldn't he's not performing his job to the best of his ability.

I'm still in shock that after making the move for Vanek when our defense and goaltending were absolutely terrible (and before our 10 game winless streak in november and december) that he would make a move like that and not address the glaring weaknesses on the team. You can't say the rebuild is over after making a move for Vanek when you're dressing a 39 year old injury prone goaltender, and Martinek, Carkner and Ness on defense. Snow lost me at that point. Up until then I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

As far as the question of where will the Canucks be without major changes in the summer, I'd still think they'd be pushing for a playoff spot or at least in the mix around 9th or 10th, certainly nowhere near the bottom of the league. You guys have solid goaltending and a fantastic defense. Even with terrible scoring you'd still win close to half your games or more.

Isles need a goalie, another 2-3 NHL defensemen, and at least 1-2 more top six players.
