More relevant then SHP
- SMP8719

I disagree. At least in pools.

A shootout doesn't happen during an actual game—it's a skills competition.

It's also different than a penalty shot, which doesn't happen as often, and doesn't result in at least 3 guys from each team lining up to take them.

Like I said, I like that SHPs force managers to have a guy on the team who's a threat on the PK.

I think they're as important as PP points in pools.

Obviously they happen less, but that's why I like them—usually two wins the category.

...even though I think I'm last in the pool for SHP...

I haven't had a SHP in weeks but seem to get GWG's.... would have to disagree... a GWG happens almost every game ( obviously not SO's) where a SHG might not happen at all on any given night.

You can disagree if you want.

It's purely a personal preference.

I've been a fan of guys who pick up SHP since Bure used to lead the league in SH goals.

Also one of the reasons I started liking Burrows....although, he can't seem to score at ES or on the PP, let alone SH anymore.

I'm not dropping the SHP category.

I made a concession to Nucker by switching it to points—originally I wanted separate categories for SH assists and goals.

I agree - perhaps Yahoo may introduce the Shoot Out feature next year
- Zogg

Yahoo already offers it as a category.

We just decided not to add it to the pool.

"We" as in Nucker and myself, and the few people who posted input when I asked before the pool even started...

If you'd taken part we might have had more IR spots this season

Did you know Nucker is a 16 year old kid who never saw Naslund play live?

I was shocked, he's one of the more mature ones here.

I did not know that - did they just put it in this year? perhaps re-visit next year. I wonder if Yahoo will add any other categories (if there are any left- i.e Takeaways, Giveaways, Penalty Shots? etc any other stats that you'd like to see incorporated?)

I'll put any suggestions up for vote (except SHP—I draw the line at having at least one SH category).

I told Vintage earlier that if he can convince at least half the guys in the pool, we can add it to next season's categories.

If there's enough interest I can make a poll?

I had a bit of an idea because of his Kesler fanboy/girl crush.

Sounds good (I think the poll method (no, not the POLE method, perverts) is always the best way to go

Yeah, the polls are handy (as are some poles...), but I wish more of the managers would actually take part in them.

Canucks need to get on the John Schneider and Pete Carroll program - drafting is key as we move forward.

Totally agree... BUT drafting can be a bit of a crap chute. But think they need to spend more money on quality scouts. Clear house of at least a few scouts, go for quality, not quantity.

And get rid of Gillis

Exactly. The executive level of the NHL is totally a "Good Ol Boys Club". Edmonton is especially bad for it, but that's beside the point. We need to get rid of the crappy scouting we've had over the last decade or so, hold onto our draft picks, and recruit a keen eye for talent.

As much as my patience is begining to wear thin with Gillis, he's got one more season to right the ship in my books.

I know drafting is different in the NFL, in that your drafting players that are immediately ready, but, I'd like to see more push from younger players on what is turning into an aging team.

How many Gillis players drafted or college free agents are contributing after six draft years? Cody Hodgson and Chris Tanev? It's a question more than a comment Fosco

There is a ton of quality players that never see the league because of the boys club. Seriously we half our current line up is due to scouting? Sedins Bieksa Kesler and on and on . Your F@cked if you think that scouting is our main problem.

Drafting has been sub par at best.. and it IS a very real concern. It is one of many things this organization needs to re-evaluate sooner rather than later.

Its a simple fix too and one that needs to be made.
