You should head on over to the Isles board and gather some opinions. |

This would never happen but if you were either team would you do this trade
To the Islanders
Ryan Kesler, Chris Tanev or Kevin Bieksa, Hunter Shinkaruk, Eddie Lack and a 1st
to Vancouver
John Tavares
That's the entire trade I don't care if we give up to many players. If Im the new York Islanders I'm definitely thinking about that.
- The_Kuze
I wouldn't make that trade if I was the Islanders. Kesler's almost 30, not on the upswing of his career. Bieksa's almost 33. Tanev just doesn't have enough trade value. Shinkaruk doesn't have enough trade value either, especially coming off surgery. Goalies don't garner much on the trade market, especially backup goalies.
Canucks would probably have to put together something like Kesler, Edler, Horvat, Jensen, a 1st in 2015 and a goalie (Lack or Luongo). That MIGHT get the Islander's attention. |

Agreed, and he's definitely got the best contract of any superstar in the league. |

I think the real question is should we count SO goals in the pool?

What would you consider mid-level? - Chest Rockwell
I suppose a player generating a similar output in other categories or in other positions. |

I like SHP because it forces managers to have a few players who play on the PK.
I'm less fond of GWGs, but added it because I've never been in a pool without it, so I figured it was a pretty common category.
Plus, it's a measure of "clutchness" - Fosco
It's still arbitrary since the prime role of a player on the PK is to kill the PK. Scoring is a bonus and as such can be random.
Face-offs won or % is a more applicable cat to your criteria I would think. But I'm not even a huge fan of that since C's are already highly coveted. |

I haven't had a SHP in weeks but seem to get GWG's.... would have to disagree... a GWG happens almost every game ( obviously not SO's) where a SHG might not happen at all on any given night. |

And no im not offering that for another player John Tavares is who I would want.
Throw huge money at Vanek in the offseason
Buy out booth
Vanek Tavares Kassian
Sedin Sedin Burr
Higgins Horvat Hansen
Santorelli Richardson Sestito
rebuild complete - The_Kuze
John Tavares goes nowhere if I had a say in it. I'm not saying what you're offering is worthless, but he's not someone we could ever afford to deal. He is our franchise and there's nothing we have even remotely capable of replacing that. We have a ton of defensive prospects and if even 1 in 4 pan out we've upgraded the back end, our goaltending prospects got shelled behind out craptastic defense this year but without Tavares we have nothing.

Edler and Hansen for this yrs /1st. That way u are better next yr and buff can have that pick - Bieksa#3
I don't want Hansen, but edler would (even with his erratic play this year) immediately become our best defenseman. Our only bright spots on defense this year are Donovan (who still makes a number of mistakes as a rookie) and Dehaan, who wasn't even expected to play in the NHL this year but looks better than Hamonic, steady, great skater, plays defense, takes the body (and every time he does I cringe thinking he'll blow out a shoulder again) and has very high passing ability. The kid just doesn't lose his cool and looks like a vet.
You know who I really feel sorry for? Whoever trades for Andrew Macdonald. That guy is a one man gong show every time he's on the ice. He doesn't play the body, can't make a pass, turns the puck over in ways that make you throw things and for some unfathomable reason, our fred flintstone-looking coach puts him out there for 25+ minutes a night.

he stayed for 9 games this year (although he didn't play any) and immediately after they sent him down we lost visnovsky and strait.
I liked what I saw of him, but it was limited to preseason and it's tough to get a feel for how good he might have been against full NHL lineups when points count.
I think next year he sticks, and I think Pulock may also stick next year. They didn't keep him this year but apparently was one of the hardest decisions to send him down.
Pelach, Mayfield and Pedan will also be looking to make the roster next year although right now I don't think any of those guys are quite ready.
The pain of watching Carkner, Martinek and Macdonald has really gotten to me this year though. I don't think I've ever seen anyone defending a 2 on 2 rush (and the puck carrier was his man) by turning their back to the play while still skating upright. He actually defended a 2 on 2 rush by turning away from his man, who was the puck carrier.
If I had any hair left, this season would have cost me all of it.

no sir, Nelson is going nowhere. I'm expecting a 20-25 goal season from him next year and watching the two play, I feel like Nelson is going to be better than Strome

St Louis definitely deserved to be on team Canada, IMO ahead of Nash. Now that Stamkos is hurt, he should get the invite but I feel like Giroux may get it ahead of him. Not sure why we wouldn't want a speedy supremely offensively gifted skater on the large ice surface. Marty's class and incredibly talented. I'd pick him. |
