Again, outside of LA(an extremely rare case) most of the teams that need SO points to even get into the playoffs usually aren't gonna do much damage or scare anyone. If anything having a great SO record would give the fans and management false hope/optimism about their team.

I recall hearing that if you remove the shootout points since the shootout has been in the NHL, it would not have affected which teams made the playoffs once. It affected playoff positions, but not who would have made the playoffs.

It was a deal, Carolina retained salary.

Waivers . Almost positive because Alex and I were screaming that Gillis needed to pick him up seeing he was sent down .

I know this doesn't apply to Canucks ,but regular season and the playoffs are two different solar systems apart. Canucks are a very good regular season team but were not built to take the grind of brutal clutching ,holding and physical force of the playoff games every other night.

Hockey is the only sport that I can think of other than America Ninja competition that the two seasons are totally different. Every stage is a different game . That is why LA have a bad regular season and a good playoff team. Canucks are the opposite.

That's in the past. This year we might stink at both.

He passed through waivers first, then was traded in a deal where they retained salary.

I think Philly made it in just recently on the last day in a SO

CAR knew he had at a little value with salary retained so they did not place him on re-entry waivers.

He passed through waivers.

It was a trade in which Carolina retained salary. A deal which might not have been available to the Canucks.

100% positive.

Read my post in reply to Alex, the only reason they were in that position was because of their lack of SO success in the first place.

Pending UFA, I wonder how much he gets and if Pitt can fit him in.

I think it will be less of an issue in years to come. Ten years ago no one practiced it as now kids practice it all the time.

I think eventually they'll try to reduce SO games in general with extended OT's. Bettman won't allow a new point system though, he loves parity.

There are a lot of fans who love the shootout. Just look at a game fans are up on their feet cheering it on. I don't see it going any time soon

I think the real question is should we count SO goals in the pool?

I also like parity...

Fans like a conclusion, I'm sure they would be on their feet cheering on a coin toss if that's how the NHL wanted to decide a game.

No, but my guys score a lot of goals and such.

They should be selling and collecting some blue choppers for Edler Kesler Hamuis or Bieksa
- VANTEL

Move kesler and Edler for sure. Keep the other two because you are gonna need a solid d core to make sure the retool is quick.

For what you can get for kesler and Edler plus a top 10 pick this year, you SHOULD see a quick retool.......but then again, things have never gone as planned for the Canucks ever....

Edit: wouldn't Nikolai goldobin be sweet....
