Sell high! There is no higher time than the TDL.

If Vancouver sells at the deadline, they are unquestionably dealing from position of strength. Its not even debatable. Any team selling at the deadline is dealing from a position of strength. 15-20 buyerw and about 5 sellers with the rest standing pat.
What you hope for is one of the big dogs/picks up a great player about a week before the deadline. Then everybody feels the need to match it so they don't have a edge

I can't argue about the teams wanting to get better and feeling the pressure to make a move if a close rival is making moves and getting better.

And I can't argue that if you have something someone/everyone wants and they want to talk, you set the price and go from there. What I am unsure of is Gillis' negotiating skills when it comes to other GM's. TDL or not, I don't see Gillis dealing from a position of strength if most of his chips have ntc/nmc's... see Lou and his contract.

I didn't think it helped Lou's cause when he said his contract sucked.
I remember when Heatley wanted to be traded out of Ottawa and then limited the clubs Ottawa could trade him to. Handcuffed the GM.

I liked hearing the rumor or info that everyone is available, but I don't think that helps in the long run.

If Gillis hasn't spoken with some of the d with ntc/nmc's about possible moves, it will turnout to be lou 2.0

Its all about demand

Only a couple teams even were willing to discuss Lu due to his contract. Edler for example would have heavy interest from many teams and has a sweetheart contract

Don't fly United if you're planning on going somewhere in the winter. They cancelled 5 out of 6 days here in Victoria last week due to the "possibility of fog" and if there is any hint of cold weather or snow on the prairies it's Cancellation Time. We Canadians sometimes don't know how good we have it with Air Canada and Westjet , both very reliable most of the time.

Maybe I am a bit pessimistic. But hey, if interest in Stempniak is intensifying, we should be okay right?

I just don't have a lot of faith in GMMG.

Can't stand Air Canada I have never had a good experience with them. I would pick West Jet 10 times out of 10 if there is the option too.

Every time I fly westjet and go through Calgary there is always a delay to fix the plane or get a replacement... I guess if I am posting this, I shouldn't complain as I have reached my destinations safe and sound.

Don't forget to vote Hutton... or not, no pressure. I guess if he isn't under contract and wins the Hobey, more money to him... so it may not be a good idea to vote, but what the heck.

I fly around 60 times a year , mostly for business. I used to fly Westjet around 25 times and AC around 35 times but I switched most of it to Air Canada due to that they have way better on time performance and don't cancel nearly as often. Also when Westjet has problems they will not book you on another airline to get you going but AC usually will. I find the front line employees for both to be around the same.

Relax, everything is going to be just fine. Right now Gillis is in the part of the process where he will go all in with some bold moves. He has successfully managed to keep the core in tact and with all the NTC's they are here for the long haul. Here is what will go down in the next couple of weeks to make this team a SC contender. Cherry knows we are going all the way, he told the whole nation a couple of weeks ago.

Horvat, Lack and Jensen for E Kane

Corrado and Shinkuruk for Callahan

Gaunce and a 1st for Ott

Schroeder and a 2nd for Tim Thomas

Sedin / Sedin /Burrows
Kane/ Kesler/ Callahan
Higgins/ Ott/ Kassian
Sestito / Richardson / Hansen

Hamhuis/Tanev
Elder/ Garrison
Stanton / Bieksa

Luongo
Thomas

Guaranteed Cup now. No rebuild necessary. Get ready for a parade.

I left Victoria at 06:30 on Air Canada, landed in Toronto in a snow storm, had to circle for a half hour because of weather. Heading to St. John's tomorrow, hopefully we fly.

Flying to the rock is crazy - especially if Grand Falls (Windsor is my dad's hometown) is your destination. So much for having a national carrier that offers piss poor options to some desired destinations.

Have a good time. My young teen loves damper dogs (tautins sic?) when he visits my mom.

Have a good time and enjoy the food!

I want to see MG with some glitter to go with his shine

I hope MG does something, but if his previous record is any indication of the future, we shouldn't expect much unless Chunk has some insider info...

I want to say I'm in the camp for some trades and a shakeup, is there a camp that wants to "hold fast" and ride out the storm?

- hillbillydeluxe

Im in the "ride out the storm, fire gillis in the spring, start retooling without eyebags" camp.

edit: I cant believe people still trust Gillis to remould this team into a contender in the future. There is a likelihood this team will stop accelerating downwards but thats just Physics. Its called terminal velocity.

I'm starting to lean towards this philosophy. Getting tired of "Slow Burn" waiting to do something. He started off well early in his tenure here, but he like the rest of the team has steadily been declining since the SCF. I would like see a re-tooling on the fly like San Jose did last year.

One thing is clear: something needs to change. If Gillis isn't ready to do it, he is where it starts.

I would like to see GMMG's stress levels before taking the GM job and now. I like to make fun of him because he always looks so sweaty and uncomfortable... just hope for his sake he gets out of that chair before he has a stroke or something.

I want to see changes asap just to get it going. But don't think any major ones will happen. It might be a good thing or not. This team has had too many excuses since the big run with the core largely intact.

I feel sorry for Burrows not being able to score, fav player. But if he isn't scoring, he is over paid by about 1.5mil. Which I guess isn't bad compared to Booth.

Changes are needed.

Sorry, it has been some time since I have been. Just don't be afraid to try the food. Cod tongues were a favourite of mine. If you ever see a stand for wedge fries, give it a try- potato wedges with a light batter. mmm.

Lots of relatives there, good friendly people.

Enjoy yourself.

No, no and no. Were not giving up Shink and Corrado for Callahan. This team needs to rebuild more than retool. Mortgaging the future is a terrible idea.
