maybe, though I doubt it. I usually hang at the Rum Barrel for any Philly sports. |

He's Mike Richards as a winger, but at well over $42M+/7-years? No thanks. - Tomahawk
Yup. He's getting way too much money and way too many years. The Flyers need to use their limited cap space on the defense. |

I'd be happy if he just goes out west somewhere.
When healthy he kills the Flyers (not so much this season). |

Justin Williams loves to score against them as well, although he's not exactly a lesser.
I could be wrong, but is this the first time they've faced Jeff Carter since he was traded? I can't find any split stats for him facing PHI. If so, I'd hold my glove extra high if I were Mase. - Tomahawk
oh you think NOW he can elevate the puck?

I could really see the Sabres making a big push for him. They have some nice young D pieces, which is probably what the Rangers are looking for. |

Interesting comment from Richards, in Carchidi's Inqy article, about it only being two and a half years since he and Carter were traded and only four Flyers (5 if you include healthy-scratch Messaros) remain from that team. - Dkos
"It's sunshine every day," he said. "But I still miss Philly. I still have a lot of friends there. I talk to a lot of people back there and still love the city. There's different things you like {about L.A.] and different things you still wish you were in Philly for."
Richards said winning the Cup with Carter as his teammate was special, but "obviously not the city we envisioned" representing as champions.

I don't know the prospects very well, can anyone elaborate on Mark Alt's projected status?
I have looked at his background info, etc, but is there a full organizational expectation for maybe next season (22 years of age) to make it as a full time player on our back line?
And if so, he appears to be the only one, (not counting the drafted D men last year), as Lauridson was never given a chance after last seasons call up & Manning & Konan aren't projected as high |

I was just thinking we were overdue to acquire another injury prone player. - hereticpride
Anyone else reminded of the Roenick signing when we signed LeCavalier?
I don't have their stats in front of me, but they almost mirror each other, save for LeCavalier's cup (still can't believe that '93-94 Hawks team never won... thanks to Lemieux) and being a little older.
Richie could be considered a poor mans Roenick/Lecavalier, and has potential to shorten the gap depending on how much success he has going forward.
I still miss him and will not rule out a return before his career ends.

Carter and Richards will tap dance on Holmgren's skull today. La, La, lock it up. - PLindbergh31
Cool story.
I would still take the return 100/100 times, just looking at the main parts..
Voracek(age 24), Simmonds(age 25) Couturier (age 21) and B. Schenn (age 22)
vs
Carter (age 29), Richards (age 28)
Can't beat a dead horse and I wish they drafted Jagr over Ricci |

the move restored our depth on 3 lines, (just wish there was a defenseman & 3 forwards instead) on the return |

Agreed..
If that deals turns out Voracek, Simmonds, B Schenn and Dougie Hamilton then it i one of the all greats series of deals.
As it is I still feel the Flyers won out on both deals. |

I can't go "Doug Hamilton" though, they had 3 centers already & passed up on him, but I agree with where your going
scoring is only part of the equation , I know, but so far to date Simmonds has outscored Richards after the trade 119 to 111, (yes, I know Richards is a 2 way center & better defensively), but at the time Simmonds wasn't projected in this capacity.
Voracek outscored Carter 133 to 101.
again I understand LA plays defensive hockey etc, its just a fact 3 years later on how it turned out so far. |
