Doubtful.
Callahan is on the trade block because his salary demands are exorbitant for a 28 year old bringing what he brings. If you thought Clarkson's contract was bad, try 7 years at 6m+ for Callahan.
Gillis had chances last summer to improve the team but did little, only shoring up some depth. Tyler Seguin was on the market. Brad Boyes could have been had for $1m. Smith, Tatar, Sheehan was reportedly on the table for Edler and MG refused. Jussi Jokinen was available with CAR willing to pick up some salary and MG slept on that. I could go on.
Gillis clearly had no idea where this team was and thought Torts would magically turn the entire roster into the players they were circa 2010-11. - AlexF
I wouldn't be comfortable with 42 mill for Callahan, but your nuking futs if you think Callahan isn't day and night better then Clarkson. Clarkson might, maybe be a better fight then Callahan. In every other aspect of the game Callahan is better by a huge margin |

Wow, the only comparison I made were bad contracts handed out to UFAs. If we thought Clarkson's was expensive, get ready for really expensive with Callahan (as in more than most sober teams would be willing to stomach). Feel free to read my previous post again. |

Agreed. Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds was a good haul for Richards. - AlexF
And a 2nd
Coutourier, Laughton and 1st/2nd
How about Edler for Zibanajek(sp) They got Spezza and Turris down the middle. Edler would be a great partner for Karlsson

Edler for Zibanajad + something would be a fine trade IMO. |

So what are u saying? Every contract exceeding clarksons contract is awful? You were clearly implying that his contract is gonna be worse. Not sure how else one could take "if you thought Clarksons contract was bad" perhaps you didn't mean what you said |

While I haven't been out, I'm assuming they aren't gonna need fake snow this yr. Expecting another 2 ft this week. |
