Ben (frank)ing Scrivens with a 59 save shutout of San Jose. I didn't see the highlights but that's gotta be the current frontrunner for goalie game of the year at this point. Wow. |

Kassian - animal last night, as was Kesler.
And yes, now that you guys are the proud owners of a Tortorella, you bet he will ride guys like Kesler into the ground.
VAN is a much different team without the guys you had on the back end - Edler, Ehrhoff and Mitchell in particular.
Also happy to see our boy Ryan Stanton make good. Great pick up and a mistake for Bowman to have let him get away. |

The reality is we've regressed into mediocrity alarmingly quickly from our peak whereas Chicago has maintained their form at or near its peak since 2010. Chicago has an attractive, high-scoring team to watch and is currently in a golden age. Enjoy the run. |

I know it was hard to tell but Edler still plays for Canucks |

That veteran snarl, skill and wisdom lost from the D corps really shows now. Teams are more successful cycling on you now, and the transition game out not so good. Sad. I enjoyed the rivalry.

If he ever ended up in TO, he would have had some amazing games. He's one of those goalies who thrives on 30+ shots, but can suck with less than 30.
I think they're pretty happy with the younger/cheaper Bernier though. |

The way he jumped up in the play, and dished the puck to toews and Kane I coulda swore he was a Blackhawk. Especially how fast he got into the Canuck zone on the forecheck |

Totally agree. If they ever had more consistent D or a better system of some sorts they would be a pretty dangerous team. Offensively they are top 5 I think in the NHL right now. |

But that's not a foregone conclusion.
A couple of good moves and signings in the offseason and a few prospects stepping up can change the downward trajectory.
It doesn't have to be a full rebuild.
Just don't expect the moves now, because there are too many obstacles. - Fosco
A full rebuild aint necessary, but in my opinion, much as the Hawks were forced to do a few years back because of the cap, is to trade a vet or 2 and get some prospects/picks in return.
Given the free-fall and the lack of sellers...I think Gillis needs to sell this year and re-group for next season. I don't see them doing any damage this fall.....
Trade Edler or Bieksa, trade Hansen and give the youth a chance next year...... |

For sure - I was at the game on Tuesday and Bernier was the main reason they squeaked out the win. The Leafs need Bolland back and defensive help desperately.

It will happen at the draft.... that is when Gillis is most active and the Cap will go up so more trading partners will be possible. I fully expect with another first round exit that changes would be made. |

I desperately hope so.....no more lip service.....
I've already stopped spending money on the NHL since the lockout......what's next? Maybe I'll start punching people in the face outside of Rogers who spend their money on this poop product......

I honestly think it's about time you let Luongo go. If you'd only drop your price to 1st, 2nd, roster player and a top prospect, I think it would benefit both sides. Balls in your court MG. Don't get too greedy just because you have 3 of the top 2 goalies. (Remember those days?) |

No (frank)ing way. I'd settle for Rielly, Gardiner, JVR, Kardi, 2 1sts and a 2nd. Lack isn't top 3 yet, I'd say around #4 or 5 in the world so he should be fine as a starter.

You act as if that wasn't a serious trade proposal. I take it you guys have tempered expectations when/if possible trading Luo? |
