Vancouver - 13

Cup finals

Both teams have had periods of greatness and periods of absolute crap. - Bluechip23
I think a good bench mark is from 2004.

Wow didn't realize it was that close, honestly thought you d be killing us. I just refuse to admit defeat when dealing with Nucker, lefty or Scooby. |

Leafs have just been embarrassing for the last 10 years. Essentially since the lockout happened they were so used to out spending teams they could not recover when the rules changed and then had arguably the worst GM in all of sports with JFJ. |

Oh for sure those last 7 years prior to the last lockout were bad as we're most of the the 80's, and the 70's were the start of the decline. Luckily they are starting to improve. Lots of people didn't like Burke but he rebuilt the organization from the bottom up so have to give him credit.

I looked at the leafs roster when burke took it over and it was pathetic. I don't get how you can get a team to have that little talent on an NHL roster. Burke made his mistakes for sure but he also made some fantastic moves. I don't get how anyone in Vancouver can't respect the job he did for us. He rebuilt our franchise as well in that Sedin deal. His biggest mistake in Van was not replacing Cloutier which was a shame because those naslund teams i thought were some of the best teams we have ever had. |

Funny you mention the cloutier part, as I always found as good as Burke is his judging of talent, when it comes to to goal hes horrendous. There is no explanation it's just weird. He set Vancouver up well he deserves credit for what he brought but you have respect the other guys that came after him and added their pieces as well.
Yes the leafs organization of a whole remind me of the expansion teams when they joined in the early 90's no talent got to pick from the scrubs that people didn't want to protect and that was all they had. |

Totally. I think Nonis did a really good job getting Lu. MG did a great job in terms of taking a championship contending roster and adding the final touches to win a cup. He just came up short and is struggling to turn it around. Lets see what happens over the next 5 months. |

I like the sound of that. Fair assessment. If he can pull off the trade that gets us the right top 6 goal sniper we have all been complaining about he will be ok. |

Looks like what we need for the 1st line. A guy that goes to the dirty areas and forces his way into the slot. Most important he SHOOTS THE PUCK and at the net no less. |

Not sure how Jagr would look skating 25 minutes a night for Torts. I would have to think he would help the PP immensely though. |

Cam Davie @offersheet 13m
the team isn't good enough and it's caught between two different styles of play. Great management there. It's his job to BUILD IT.
We'll see what happens??? |

Careful what you wish for.
A trade made in desperation at this time of year might not be the type that the majority of fans here want to see... |

If its a rental, like a 1st for Moulson or something I bet we'll definitely see a big time mixed reaction. And people like to say that Gillis doesn't like rentals, but look at Roy last year. |
