Looks like he's really playing with confidence. Both him and Megna are playing like the want to stay. |

i can see him being a little pricey. but when you think about it, i dont see you being able to replace his versatility and skill for anything cheaper. with the teams constant injuries, his ability to play many roles on any line is invaluable. he is skilled enough to hang with crosby and malkin, but if the team ever does get another scoring winger he can shift down and instantly provide credibility to the third line - stayinthefnnet
If I'm Shero, I'm calling Jokes agent first thing in the morning. |

I really both can find a place in the NHL. You gotta love their effort. Suddenly we have AHL forwards worth something (Sill included) |

let's be real here.... Jokinen is gonna have Anson Carter syndrome here and price himself out by a clear 1 million per. For the good of his career he should take 3.25-3.5 for 3 years from Pitt. |

That's a reasonable amount for him. I bet he'll take it. Very good hockey IQ and can pass and score like a few. |

The dollars and sense work to keep Jokinen and Niskanen,
However the roster spots just don't line up for Nisk, don't think he'll take less than a top 4 spot after this year. Big luxury having him, next year I'd like to see a guy like Ott on the team |

If Orpik doesn't take a massive discount I don't see him coming back. Niskanen will be expensive but worth keeping @ $4M/per. If not, good bye.
Bortuzzo and Despres are waiting for a chance. |

Niskanen will be offered 5 mil or more. Very thin FA market for D. I don't think they can keep him. |

Hard to believe Jokes has been put on waivers twice and CAR is paying half his salary. Even as stacked as the Pens are, he contributes a ton. Dude has gotta stay! |

I do think he'll receive this kind of offer but I also believe he's the type that would take a little less to stay. Damn, even Paul Martin rejected a $5.5M offer to play for LA just to make part of the Penguins. |

Solid, simple defensive effort so far--all around--but noticeably less running around as a team |

I agree, I think he would take a discount, but I don't think he'll like that idea that Maata plays ahead of him, unless of course he plays with Maata and they drop Scuderi to a bottom pairing. |

I could see that happening. No reason to split Nisky/Olli.
If we could only sign Orpik for $3M and Nisky for $4M.. |

So you want Orpik to stay eh......I know Brooks is your boy but I'm hoping if Despres isn't traded he should get that spot or at least battle for it with another up and comer. |

If the Pens want to keep both Jokinen and Niskanen, they will need to not only allow Orpik to move as a free agent, but make a major move in trading Letang in the offseason. I know the cap is going up, but there are other needs next year for this roster as well. |

I'm perfectly fine with the idea of Orpik leaving but anytime you can hold on to a player for less than market value you do it. That probably would mean Bortuzzo or Martin would have to go so Despres can step in. Just a thought. |
