Not hating this but I think as JMatch said you have to consider Dupuis. We don't know what'll happen with his recovery but I don't see the Penguins cutting and running on him. So does this happen now(at deadline) or at draft? I'm confused. - HopintheCordoba
I am talking about a cup run. Now. Remember that Jokinen will be no longer with us after this year (only If we decide to re-sign him). Dupuis would have a place on this team next year. |

Talent wise Malkin is the best player and I wouldn't trade him for Stamkos either. The only thing enticing here is That Stamkos is younger and plays for the same national team as Sid. Perhaps on the same line (will be for years) - Orpik44
I'll argue that Stamkos is better. That dude was on a tear basically neck-and-neck with Crosby before his injury. Now, if you want to take the injury into account, I'll give you that. But I don't think you can flat-out say Malkin's better than Stamkos with no hesitation.
Just take a minute. I don't pretend to be a Penguins fan first and foremost. I like them, but I'm a Flyers fan (my wife is the exact opposite). So I think I have a different view of them than most other Penguins' fans. I try to view them objectively, and I'm just giving maybe a different view of Malkin than what most Pens' fans see. Very talented, but he seems to be put up on this pedestal that I don't think he deserves. Just my view. |

NHL14 in full effect.
By the way, where's the beloved Pascal Dupuis playing next year when he comes back? With Talbot and Vitale? - jmatchett383
I am not yet convinced that he will ever play again. The silence is highly concerning, we heard more about Sid when there was " nothing new to report" about his concussions. |

Absolutely. So are "revolutionary" and "best ever" (see: Zepplin, Led). |

Dupuis injury could be a blessing in disguise if you ask me. Might force them to actually bring in a long term fit and slot him on the 3rd next season. And if they just grab a rental for a 1st then it was terrible |

Unless you ARE convinced that the WON'T ever play again, you have to account for him...both on the roster and the salary cap. |

That's what i said. Why would you trade a 40 goal scorer who has a friendly cap hit and great chemistry with your all-world center. - cap1681
The only way I'd trade Neal would be for a winner/character guy/leader/defensively responsible. Dustin Brown was an example. That's all. |

Then you aren't trading James Neal.
Along the same thought pattern, I'm sure you'd all be cool with trading Marc Andre Fleury for Herink Lundqvist or the 11-12 version of Jonathan Quick. |

No...but I'm not sure who would be willing to make the trade. Callahan yes, but then you're stuck with paying him $6M/year until he's 35. Maybe you can invent a time machine and go after the 29-year-old version of Shane Doan. Sadly, there aren't a lot of (relatively) young, character-type guys who will produce close to what Neal does for near the same amount of money. |

Why would moving Geno make team chemistry better? He's very well liked and respected, and by all accounts doesn't want the spotlight that Sid gets. - rival22
Just think of the return we could get for Geno though. It would be a kings ransom. |

That's my point. You wouldn't get the best player in the deal...but you would be building one hell of a supporting cast for the best player in the world. |

Although this whole argument is pointless because I would guess there is about a .00001 % chance he gets moved. |

I don't like the idea of trading letang for a pending FA. I know it would creat cap space to sign Ryan but who knows if he'd want to sign here. I'd prefer cost certain players. |

well i guess i would preface my potential trade by saying bobby ryan was a lock to sign...i thought ottawa had him signed for the next handful of years but I very well could just be misremembering...
are any of the rumors true that he wanted to go to philly? is he from over there? |

Poor old Rupper's career is over, but there is another former Penguin playing in Minnesota that would solidify our team for years to come, and make us a far more respected team. |

I don't think that works for either team. Maybe flip him to Carolina for Skinner +. |
