frank, i hope they don't blow up the American hockey team - bobbyisno1
Look on the bright side: the athletes are at greater risk of dying on the airplane ride in to Russia than they are of being killed by terrorists.

So he used them not knowing it was a joke? He added the tweet like it was proof somebody said it, so it must mean they wanted it. It's like coming in here and saying somebody actually wanted to trade Kessel for a hockey stick. - weirdoh

Flying into Russia isn't a problem. It's the local transportation that's the problem. |

Gus K ended up doing something with TSN. But man his blogs were so heavy in stats and numbers it felt like reading a (frank)ing math book.

If you look at it rationally, yes.
But people aren't rational.
If you're in one of the war torn regions that's been decimated by Russian imperialism and disregard for human life... anything to draw attention to your plight is a good thing.
And here's the kicker, depending on how Russia responds, even the vilest terrorist attack can win the attackers favor around the world.
Look at the US after 9/11. Everyone hated Al Qaeda for what they did. But in only a few years, popular sentiment turned back around against the US, and the middle east, despite years of US attempts to destroy Al Qaeda, is probably now more under their control than it ever was.
Look at Palestinians and Israel. Palestinians carry our terror attacks against Israel, yet the general public opinion is that Israel is the villain in the region- and their military responses don't do much to dissuade that belief. - Feeling Glucky?
No kidding... Just read a book about what NorthAmerica was like in the 19th century. If we were only 100 years younger we'd be killing each other for fun.... civilization is a pretty new thing.

I like AP media briefs, too.
They're pretty much what all the news stations use as a basis for their stories, before they layer on their bias. |

I don't mind them... but at the same time, don't let the lack of opinion lead you to believe they're unbiased. Just picking and choosing which facts to present can completely change the story.
Basically, if you hear a story that interests you... you gotta do research, looking at a bunch of different news sources to form a proper opinion.
Which is hard to do for everything... which is why more people should just STFU about the things they don't understand. - Feeling Glucky?
thats the thing tho.. have you seen the NA version? its completely multi cultural.
and they dont try and force opinion on you.
all they do is report the news.. sometimes they present a couple possible "why it happened" scenarios but its all typically provided by guests. They actually encourage you to delve in your self by providing differing opinions from outside sources.
their own news crew doesnt offer opinions.. they just tell you what happened |

trust me.. watch it..
its straight up "here's what happened"
not hey, here is what we think this means, or this is what he/she said so here is our analyst
i was honestly impressed. just a straight presentation of fact. and when someone did come on, they were clear about whose side of the issue they represented and that their opinions were not those of the network.
its truly honest news.. and actually.. many journalists are jumping ship to go to them. - Dozzer
Ohh it's probably better... but there is no way in hell you can rid of opinion when you cover that much information. |
