There have been rumors that Downie returned while still dealing with an injury and hasn't been healthy.
I personally wouldn't be re-signing him this summer, unless he agreed to a short term deal for similar or less money. - Jsaquella
Weird because he seemed to be playing so well generating several quality scoring chances a game, now I literally have to ask myself sometimes whether or not he played in the game I just watched. |

I also hate that he's been mainly used as a 4th liner. He should be on theline with Couturier & Read. |

Would this be a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul?
Don't do it, Boston. Hamilton's a keeper. Practice what the Flyers rarely do and be patient with this kid.
But then again, if you feel you must move him for Braydon and a first, well, OK, but I'd rather make it a second. - 77rams
Coburn and a first is too much. How about draft a dman with that #1 pick. I knew this year might be rocky and was on board with the Streit and Vinny signings because we didn't trade young players or picks for them. I hope that Homer stays the course and doesn't overpay at the deadline. If a long term benefical deal at the TDL or draft for a stud dman comes along then do it. If not, keep building with the young players.. which is what I think they are trying to do now for the most part. We all know that the team needs that stud Dman, but they are ridiculously hard to find.. (also why I think that expecting the Habs to trade Subban is a pipe dream). |

Go flyers, shutout for Mason (on my fantasy team) any help in the standings would be appreciated. Please beat Boston in regulation |

IMO, at worst Hamilton doesn't touch his potential and you just traded Coburn for a younger/cheaper version, and the 1st-rounder becomes a player.
At best, you've solved your most glaring need with a long-term solution without having to part with any of the kids.
I still think all this conjecture is moot though... I would find it difficult to believe that Chiarelli would even entertain the possibility of a move like that. - Tomahawk
Yes, I do understand, but, I had to look it up to remember, didn't we take Courturier before him? Seems like mute point, as Homer wasn't apparently interested in him then.
We had centers after the Richards & Carter trades, go into the draft, & took Courturier with Hamilton on the board. |

Why was he shuffled off that line in the first place? i thought they were dominant for a stretch there. |

Because when he went out, Raffl went to the Giroux line, and we had no place for lecavalier |

Yup sign me up for that. - Marc D

I honestly believe their chances of making the playoffs are 50/50. Seen this team play well and bad enough for either scenario. |

Makes zero sense. Either he's not healthy enough to be playing or he's in Berubes doghouse over some others that should be there instead.
I don't get it. Right now the trade was a huge flop and mostly because of how they are using Downie. (Unless he still is injured) |

Honestly I hope your right. I just don't see it.
If they squeak in then it will likely be out in 5 games in round one.
I'm not going to hang my hat on today's game, but if they could play up to the Bruins and somehow win I would be more a believer.
Lately they look closer to Carolina and even Buffalo to me, then they do to Boston/Pitt. |

In gauntlet v1, this team went 5-1.
I'm excited to see how gauntlet v2 plays out |

Just because they liked Couturier more than Hamilton at the time, doesn't mean that they didn't like Hamilton.
Homer % Co. took JvR over Voracek in 2007, but they didn't exactly balk when the chance to add Jake came along, did they? |

In the case of Hartsy, I couldn;t agree more:
It might have been an odd question -- Can I make you a zombie? -- but Mason said it wasn't hard to ask his teammates.
"I just flat-out told them, ‘Would you want to be on a helmet? You're going to get a lot of airtime. At the end of the day you'll probably look better as a zombie than you do in real life,'" Mason said. |
