This has actually been a good trade for both teams. I've watched Liles play for Carolina and he's skating really well and generating opportunities for them. Gleason is doing exactly what Fraser done for us last year, with a little better positioning.

yeah for sure.. that one was win win ... the canes needed someone who could move the puck.. the leafs needed someone who could stop the puck from being moved.

contracts were comparable. good fit for a trade.

albertans and their tough talk make me laugh

just looked it up for fun

in whitecourt for instance the average temp in Jan ranges from minus 19 to minus 10.

in SW ontario (being fair here cause Northern Ontario is a different ball game) for say London is minus 9 to mins 2

so its only about a ten degree difference. however.. sw ontario has a humidity factor that northern alberta doesnt. we get wet cold.. alberta has dry cold.. it makes a huge difference.

my cousin who grew up in SW ontario and now works in northern alberta says he prefers the alberta winters because they are dry. easier to protect against.

Actually, it's 0 or warmer for a little while now. It's nice seeing everyone else be frozen while we enjoy balmy weather.

we've already done a few stretches of -40 this winter. it is nice to hear everyone else whine..

how quaint. i dont care if you are rural ont or rural alberta the wind still hits you the same.

my point is that albertans like to talk tough.. when its not as bad as they say.

winter anywhere in canada is tough.. unless you are right in the core of a major city and the sewers are heating things up from underneath

I thought Bodie struggled last night. That one shift he couldn't stay on his feet with any contact.

He always looks like that. One good shoulder shake in a fight and he loses his balance too. He must have toothpick legs.

Lived in Edmonton for most of my high school years, the -20 weather there isn't even comparable to the -20 weather here. It's much worse here, how it feels etc. Albertans do handle driving in the snow better, but regardless of weather, just by sheer population density, there are more idiots driving in Toronto then anywher. The one thing Alberta has to female dog about is the short days.

Just a thought on the first goal last night by Gardiner.

Anyone else see Kessel get it in the corner, take the hit, but still made the pass out front?
This is why people who don't watch the Leafs shouldn't make judgement calls on the Leafs. Kessel is developing every year into a better player. It'll be a treat to watch him for the next 8 years.

It feels worse in Ontario. Same with summer, if it weren't for the short days in the winter, I'd move back to Edmonton. Cheaper houses, less traffic and great golfing in the summer.

I've lived here for 35 years and every single winter sees at least one period where windchill values hit at least -40 or -50. Prairie winter winds are no joke.

I worked in NB for a winter once and I will admit that a wet cold seem to just sink into your bones, but if you asked me which type of weather Id rather be on a monkeyboard in, Id pick anywhere not Alberta.

Just my two cents. In the end, it's Canada. It's cold.

Yeah good point. I forgot about those, I was a city boy, so I don't think I ever saw the worst that Alberta had to throw at me.

Two weeks earlier than in Alberta....though lately....its weird here. Spring and fall have gotten shorter, and Summer seems to start in June and end in July. The last two years here have probably been as close to Edmonton weather as I can remember. Three years ago, there was no real winter. It's all (frank)ed up.

I miss Edmonton sometimes. Loved being able to ride the bike from Riverbend all the way downtown in a half hour. Loved that huge park too right before crossing the river. Hit my first homerun in that park.

Just so many teams that are pretty much all about the same

Toronto, NYR, New Jersey, COlumbus, Detroit, Ottawa, Philly ... you might even put Montreal in there.

They are all pretty mediocre teams.
