I think he's won a lot of us over in a short time frame. His numbers look ugly, but when the game's on the line, he seems to really step up. - mykokes

Someone mentioned Gleason was slow. Those (frank)ers have never seen Franson skate, plus Gleason can actually skate pretty well and looks to be very strong on his skates.
I loved the one shift where Gleason has two guys forechecking him and he calmly protects the puck with his body - the puck in close to him and slides a nice short pass to a Leaf and out they go. Composure - it's a pretty cool thing to have when you're a defenseman. - Woderwick
gleason isnt fast.. but he plays sound postinional hockey and doesnt get worked up with the puck.
franson should seriously be watching gleason closely. thats his future if he hopes to remain in the league |

for starters when it comes to gleason just ignore the GAP columns
the minus three is an unfortunate leftover from the 4 game slide while he was learnign the systems |

... and it probably impossible that ALL those teams will win all those games in hand.
If it not impossible, it is unlikely. Most of the teams battling it out with the Leafs are mediocre teams just like the Leafs.
The fact is, with one bad week the Leafs could fall out of a playoff spot. A stretch of 2 or 3 bad weeks and they might not be able to recover.
So, to suggest we have solidified a playoff spot is ridiculous.
I still think 4 points on the road trip would be a good accomplishment. - Aetherial
It's a lot easier to pretend the Leafs best possible scenario will happen and all the other teams will lose until the end of the season. |

Clarkson is a cycle guy on a rush team... Scored a lot of goals on PP and played next to Kovalchuk
It's funny because Clarkson embodies what Carlyle repeatedly tries to get the Leafs to do offensively (imo)... Still has a good shot just needs to figure out his niche here
Not saying I am the biggest fan I just dont think all of the criticism is fair |

First off, we either need to dress a skating team tonight or a total goon team tonight. Either dress Orr, McLaren and Fraser, or drop Orr and put in D'Amigo. I dont' see a scenereo, where we win with a mixed lineup tonight. I vote for a tough lineup and let's take it to Colorado physically. We'll need an emotional uptick, playing in back to back games. If the Leafs aren't going to use Ranger, Fraser, or McLaren, send them to the Marlies and get them off of our salary cap.

This has actually been a good trade for both teams. I've watched Liles play for Carolina and he's skating really well and generating opportunities for them. Gleason is doing exactly what Fraser done for us last year, with a little better positioning.

Just a thought on the first goal last night by Gardiner.
Anyone else see Kessel get it in the corner, take the hit, but still made the pass out front?
This is why people who don't watch the Leafs shouldn't make judgement calls on the Leafs. Kessel is developing every year into a better player. It'll be a treat to watch him for the next 8 years. |

They can match up with us at forward, probably slightly better on defense, but our goaltending might be slightly better. If they get rolling, we're toast. Better to turn it into a battle for square inches of ice, then long stretch passes and trading scoring chances.

Actually, it's 0 or warmer for a little while now. It's nice seeing everyone else be frozen while we enjoy balmy weather. |
