I think everyone is in agreement that Gio would Drastically improve the Leafs D and team in general. I am surprised however, that (unless there's a certain trolling aspect) people cannot understand the uncomfort of trading our draft picks and prospects, especially after fans from all other teams have told us for the past decade, this is why the Leafs will never become a good team again.

A gardiner for gio trade is young for old. Gio is set for what he brings, gardiner has potential to be alot better

A schenn for jvr trade worked as they were both young and have potential

On top of what he brings to the ice, he would bring leadership which the Leafs need.

Well, not including Bigs (who is a middling prospect), I think Gards is worth more then our 1st rounder (where it will end up being)....I guess it depends on roster player.

Gio would make our defense a whole lot better and for the next several years.

I do get why no one wants to trade Gardiner though - terrible history of trading young for "old" (i don't view Gio as old like most).

If you can work around a deal that doesn't involve key assets, then sure. For example the bouwmeester trade. Wasn't really a whole lot given up by them. Thats what the leafs would be looking at to trade. And whatever bouwmeester got, is practically what gio is worth

But the problem with that deal now is that they are a little older those guys, flames would want some youth as well, perhaps a first rounder, maybe some americans for burke damigo or biggs, etc added to a package
