Sure. He's better than Franson in his own end. Yeah. He probably is better than Gunnar on 9/10 nights. Yes. He is better than Gleason. No, he isn't as good offensively as Gards and Morgan, and they both will learn to be at least "solid" in their own end, not exceptional, but "solid."

That being said, I would never trade Gards or Morgan for Gio. Gio became a "good" player when he hit 30. He's on the decline now. I would give you someone like Franson for him in a 1-for-1, not considering salary implications. Franson has been poop this year but maybe he can turn into something.

We were trending up perfectly, and then upper management decided to kick Burkie out and now we're not so sure.

One thing to like about Burke is he'll try everything to get your team going. College FA's, trades for prospects, Euro FAs, picks, everything.

Some will work in your favour (Schenn for JVR, Beachemin for Lupul + Gardiner)
Some will be debated constantly (Kessel trade)
Some will be fan discussions only (Phaneuf trade)
some will be nothing long term (Paradis, Luca Caputi, Joe Colbourne)

But either way. He works hard to build a team, keep NHL up to shelter his youth, and tries to enforce development of the youth in Jr's and the AHL (Kept Bobby Ryan in Jr in Anaheim, Kept Kadri in Jr in Toronto)

Oh Calgary. Have all the poopty teams you guys put up with have your head stuck somewhere it shouldn't be. Our systems are (frank)ed. Have no cycle game with the majority of our forwards weighing less that 200 (kessel is in this category).

We're an opportunistic team. When teams play a more focused and controlled game like they do in the playoffs. Leafs wouldn't be where they are now. We have a bunch of 2-3 line players. No top end forwards, (kessels a compliment to someone who can play and JVR is still growing), and 1 defenseman without a partner.

We're in development, maybe in 4-5 years we could have a shot.
