Anyway`s Leaf fans.....it`s been real.
I get you don`t want to sacrifice youth at the moment...but I also think you`re slightly crazy.
Gio would bring the Leafs to a whole new level IMO. I don`t know what you are trying to build over there (maybe some type of huge monster beast team that wins 82 games and sweeps it`s way to a Stanley Cup every year), but sometimes a deal comes around that is too good to pass up.
If Gio ever was traded for Franson it would be a major win for the Leafs. And I don`t think many people would argue that. - The-O-G

Right now, Reilly and Gardner could end up as amazing players, both. Keep em, unless the deal is just simply impossible to pass up, keep em... - aminnes
You don't trade building blocks unless it's for a new/different/better building block ...or you are ready to challenge for The Cup. |

People have short memories. Pronger had plateaued in St. Loo,but still got Brewer who was thought of as a pretty promising young guy then. Who were the other top vets they had before Nieds and Prongs? - sanfordnson
Selanne and McDonald were pretty damned good.
They had a bunch of established roll players who were counted on for their veteran presences...
26 year old Beauchemin and 29 year old Giggy didn't hurt either. |

Giordano never was Pronger even after Pronger had plateau'd.

I don`t think they are cup contenders right now....but if they added Gio, I think it would be a huge step. He still has 5-6 good years left, and would be a perfect leader for a young team like the Leafs. - The-O-G
We finally settled who's Ipod gets played in the locker room. Gio would just complicate poop. |

Let them both get valuable playoff experience in a year where anyone in the east could win... |

Gio aint Pronger... Pronger made every team he played on good... Even the Oilers saw a huge upswing with him there for one year, only to plummet to the bottom. This is not Gio. I like him, but your comparing him to the only d man in history to win a Norris and mvp other than Orr. |

Few were . Anaheim parted with Lupul, Smid and a 1st at he time. Two highly regarded youngsters then. The first became Eberle.
I know you guys are high on Gardiner but I just really dont get the absolute nos on this. Not that I have to. Been good chats but I gotta go

If you look back at his post he never mentioned Pronger, you guys just assumed he did.
I know it's a stretch for the Leafs to assume anything. |

well it was either Pronger or Neidermayer... he was referring to Anaheim's success after they acquired a veteran d.

I'm not a huge Phaneuf fan, but we don't really have room for Stajan either.
