If I could draw hou a picture I would. There is nothing wrong with Gio. NOTHING! And we aren't trying to unload him. I don't think anyone in CGY wants to see Gio go. Its hypothetical and I really don't think you get the worth. But be ignorant and continue on the path you're on. You'll sink lower than the Oilers soon enough.

We can agree on a bunch of things.

We can agree those stats suck, we can agree Gio is a damned good top pairing d-man, who would improve the Leafs, we can agree Gardiner is a high potential d-man(that's why you guys want him, I'm assuming)...


But what we can't agree on is the position the Leafs are in. You seem to think they're cup contenders in buy mode, I think they're still rebuilding slowly, and just happen to be sitting pretty nicely in the standings for a team that's still rebuilding.

I get you don`t want to sacrifice youth at the moment...but I also think you`re slightly crazy.

Gio would bring the Leafs to a whole new level IMO. I don`t know what you are trying to build over there (maybe some type of huge monster beast team that wins 82 games and sweeps it`s way to a Stanley Cup every year), but sometimes a deal comes around that is too good to pass up.

If Gio ever was traded for Gardiner it would be a major win for the Leafs. And I don`t think many people would argue that.

People have short memories. Pronger had plateaued in St. Loo,but still got Brewer who was thought of as a pretty promising young guy then. Who were the other top vets they had before Nieds and Prongs?

That is the everlasting impact of the Unholy One ...the One of which we don't speak.

Do you really suggest we give up on a 23 year old Dman with that kind of upside.

You would be among those laughing at us when Giordano is a contract buyout at 34 and Gardiner is an all star with some other team.

The age, and the fact that we are talking about a young Dman is a showstopper IMHO.

I don`t think they are cup contenders right now....but if they added Gio, I think it would be a huge step. He still has 5-6 good years left, and would be a perfect leader for a young team like the Leafs.
