I've always tried to avoid the trap. Hunt, quad, buy a 5th wheel, drink lots of beers, get in fights...meh. Those are the guys that always wind up broke when a bust cycle hits. The smart guys realize that a savings account isn't a sock full of 20s.

oh so it varies a lot out there? oh yeah that sucks.. perfect recipe for illness

it does where I am anyways, It's a bit different than up north.

massive temperature swings are the norm. certain stretches of the winter we'll be lucky enough to maintain some sort of stability for a week or so. its been hovering around zero for about 5 days. typically by that point you can expect it to be -35 tomorrow.. and probably -8 or so by the weekend..

yeah they have it rough alright

speakin of nucks fans.. according to my buddy gord who lived there for a few years, most nucks fan.. like 80% couldnt tell you the names of more than 4 guys on the team ..

- Dozzer

I have quite a few work associates out there - they are all for the most part good hockey fans and follow the Nucks. One however is a diehard Leaf fan who always ends up last in my buddies pool because he picks so many Leafs.

haha yeah, my buddy matty worked out there and said he didnt come away with as much as he had hoped in his first season up there. still did well considering most come away broke.

so he bought a trailer the next season and simply stayed away from the camps.. said he'd get home, have a couple beers over supper.. and go to bed.

within 4 years he had his house paid off and he was able to turn that over and use the money as a massive down payment against his and his wife's preferred home. Works back in London now for the gas company.. doesnt make as much.. but he is way ahead of the game when it comes to paying off his house (i think last i heard 5 more years) and this way he sticks close to his family.

he did it the right way.

more like a snubber or a service rigger. They're the worst. trust me, I was one. Takes a bit to get over the money you're making and prioritize whats important, but you have to learn or you'll be one of the guys that's in his 50s with nothing to show for it still working as a floorhand.

I was surprised we didn't see more of the 4.th line last night. With Ashton and McClement they are plenty responsible to. Make up for Orr. He'll they even generated Gunnar's goal.

Was really concerned with the amount he road The top 2 lines on the 3rd given they have 10 games in 29 nights

I hear the majority of the camps have gone dry now. the days of making barrels of money and dumping it into booze, drugs, and hookers seem to be fading..

my buddy gets flown in and out of albian two weeks on one week off, as a journeyman electrician he's clearing 13 grand a shift and literally has nowhere up there to spend it..

Soooo who thinks I should start Martin Jones tonight vs Columbus?

Columbus has been hot and I'm worried Jones will get lit up. Our goalie categories are W, GAA, SV% and SO.

yeah i heard that too actually. too many guys who are willing to stay sober looking for work.

if the rest of canada has a job boom and the sober labourers head back to the more populated areas of the country.. they'll start to lift the ban. lol

yup, especially in Ft.Mac. You need a high school diploma, and they want actual proof. Fail one drug test and you're gone. get caught with booze or drugs in camp and you're gone. Forget to lock out equipment and you're gone. No questions asked. For the money they shell out, they expect some discipline.

if not canadian ones.. then foreign ones..

what area are you in? Considering the influx of people Alberta is expecting you should have a poop ton of work.
