Oh come on, May in Alberta has been great the last few years no?
- mykokes

Spring doesn't seem to exist here. It did when I was a kid. I remember it being summery in May. these days it seems winter lasts until May, we get a sudden, quick thaw and then boom summer.

You're assuming that the scouting department is in Phoenix. And if they are, what are they doing there?
- faceto27

Pro scouts travel around the NHL ...it's what they do.

Lol what was your first clue?

I don't hunt. I drink beer rarely and prefer craft beers now. I hate Duck Dynasty. I do own a truck but did not put a lift kit or loud exhausts on it. I like classical music. I enjoy writing.

Im probably the worst redneck ever.

That's all the rage ... Insurance scam !

There have even been cases of people sitting in traffic and ACTUALLY "backing up" into the car behind them , then claiming they were rear ended

Until they tried it on a guy with a dashboard camera

- .HOHO.

Not so much an insurance scam... they try to get you to avoid going through insurance(so your premiums don't go up)... and then start piling medical costs on you, and sue you when you say you aren't paying anymore.

I knew the guy who did it to me was scamming me right off the bat. He did a quick signal to turn into a gas station, I couldn't avoid him(i was pretty far back, but it was slick, and he took his time with the actual turn). Second he got out of the car he asked me if I had called the cops, and said he did(without checking for damage). And then after they came, he left without even filling up his tank.

Next day he called me asking for 1300 to replace his entire bumper, and started talking about how his back was hurting.

The damage? One of the plastic screws that keeps my license plate in was stuck in his bumper.

Still though, nothing matches my winter in Norman Wells. None of us really understands cold below the 60th. The push called it a day the one day when he saw a steel pry bar literally break in half. (frank) was that miserable. Came home with a massive bank account, but vowed never to return.

My buddy lived there for 2 years working for their newspaper. He loved it. Got to be a volunteer fireman too. Weather was different, I'll say.

Its like that here too lately. Like I said earlier, June has become the new July, August like September. Spring and Fall are near indeterminable from the other two seasons.

I've lived here for 35 years and every single winter sees at least one period where windchill values hit at least -40 or -50. Prairie winter winds are no joke.

I worked in NB for a winter once and I will admit that a wet cold seem to just sink into your bones, but if you asked me which type of weather Id rather be on a monkeyboard in, Id pick anywhere not Alberta.

Just my two cents. In the end, it's Canada. It's cold.

they're pampered. awe, it's to warm and rainy. waah.

I grew up on the east coast, lived in Ottawa.. and have spent the last decade in southern alberta. I get the dry/cold argument, and it's true.. but I've always found southern alberta to be the worst.

I think maybe it has something to do with the never ending back and forth. its -3 right now, and by 6 tonight it could be -33.. and no one would be surprised. body is in a never ending struggle to adjust.

especially when you've basically broken every bone in your body over the course of your life. healed bones don't like temperature swings.

The one restaurant serves a fish and chips with the fish caught right out of Great Slave lake. Also muskox and caribou steaks and burgers. Fantastic stuff.

Both. I read daily, and write daily as well. Yet I've worked the patch since I was 19. Never really socialized much with a lot of my co-workers at any level. even other consultants usually bore me. usually easier to cronie your way up the ladder in the oilpatch, unless you just know your poop really well.
