They have done that before. Smyth scored against the Sharks a few years back and the refs missed it. Play went on for a few minutes until the Sharks scored. Refs reviewed the Smyth goal, confirmed it did go in, counted it, took off the San Jose goal, and reset the clock.
So they can already do that. - bluecoconuts
That is different, that is a goal being missed. You have to fix that. This is the puck touching the netting, no different than a missed offside or icing that the refs mistakenly thought was tipped. You can't rewind the game a whole 10+ minutes for that IMO. |

The only way I can think of to get these goals disallowed is to introduce the challenge flag but only allow reviewable plays for the last 30 seconds of the game. Meaning that this goal would be overturned but if the puck hits the mesh, bounces on the ice and 2 minutes later someone scores they can't review that. |

It's funny because everyone in the rink knows it shouldn't count and they count it anyway |

Kings fans whining about the reffing, shocker.
The video isn't clear enough to show the puck hitting the net, as the angle wasn't one that showed the net moving. I think the puck hit the top of the glass and went up and hit quicks back. |

Moron! You enjoy your game last night? It takes a line brawl and OT to get 2 points from a bad team? Proud of yourself? Welcome to the pacific Loser. The years of playing in a powder puff divsion are long gone. |

Yeah it's great playing in buildings half full of Canucks fans. Nice change not playing against the same boring teams... Will do the Canucks only good by playing better teams during the regular season. |

I agree reference the challenge flag but you have to alow a coach 2 flags per game. Use the same rules as the NFL where if your challenge is correct you get to keep it and if you were wrong guy you lose the timeout. Coaches currently have the ability to request an examination of a players stick curvature (has anyone ever used that before or after 1993?), so giving coaches challenge rights isn't out of the norm. |

At least someone didn't put a questionable knee on knee hit on one of the kings' top scorers & knock them out indefinitely....

Vancouvers combined record against the Kings, Ducks, Sharks and the Yotes, which include OTL's
2-13, have fun with that theory about playing against better teams. |

You need to get rid of the black and white Zenith TV you troll..
Understand while you would be happy about it, given the Canucks are the King's Beeeeches they need all the help they can get to even hope to sniff the playoffs
With regards to review, its pretty simple, the last event before the puck is put towards the net must be a legal play. You cannot kick it in, you cannot bat it in with the hand, it can be caught by a fan and thrown into the net, etc..
That said they won't change the rule because they don't think something like this will happen again. |

You are (frank)ing high if you truly think that goal is anywhere near legitimate. - PoileRulezzzYo
You're right, "legitimate" is the wrong word.
All I mean to say is that I agree with the NHL, and not the blogger, that the play is unfortunate but not reviewable under the current rulebook. Clearly, CLEARLY it should have been no goal, but once the refs missed the puck going out there was nothing that could be done. Conceptually it's no different from the linesman missing an offsides call that leads to a goal. It sucks, but them's the breaks.
I would like to see some changes to the rulebook that would prevent this sort of goal from ever happening again, but really, how often do we see a scoring play in the NHL that occurs after the refs miss a puck going out of bounds? Maybe once per year in the entire league? In the grand scheme of things it's a small issue that gets washed out completely by the mountain of officiating mistakes that take place each and every game. If not written carefully, with strict guidelines, any new rule might create more problems than it fixes. What happens if the puck hits the netting, play continues, a few passes are made, and a goal is scored 15 seconds later? Where do you draw the line?
One thing I suggested above would be to say that anything that happens between the puck leaving an attacker's stick and entering the goal is subject to review. That wouldn't catch everything, obviously, but it would have overturned the Kronwall goal, and it would allow referees to go back and check something like whether a goalie was interfered with before a goal. |

This is no different than Doughty diving and drawing a penalty then scoring the winner.
Bad calls happen all the time, it's pretty funny hearing you guys whine like you've been the only team to have a bad call go against them.

You assume we all live and battle in the streets of LA. I live in Orange County, close to the Honda center where the Ducks play, but can't stand that team. My reference was to your fans not the city of Vancouver which is a great, beautiful city. - arh777
The problem with Vancouver is we have a lot of fans that don't know anything about hockey, they buy the jerseys, go to the games and get wasted without knowing anything about what's going on in the game.
We have a fan base with 90% morons and 10% who actually understand the game.
So I agree with you, but don't put that on me, I didn't riot, nor did any of my friends. |

LA and Vancouver are quite similar in crime rate. 0.03 (Vancouver) vs 0.08 (LA) for murder per 1,000 people, 1 in 281
chance of being a victim vs 1 in 201 for LA.
In crime index from 1 being worse and 100 being safest Vancouver gets a score of 13. LA? 28. And LA has nearly 4 times the population of Vancouver.
Nice try though. |

Meh, give it to them, they don't really have a chance in the playoffs anyway. They need every point they can get, bad call or not. Besides, what would the post-season be without the Wings?
