Agreed. It has more to do with matchups, linemates, and goaltending as much as it does the individual. That said, on the Eastern Conference All Stars, I mean, Pittsburgh Penguins, it carries a bit more weight.

I don't see anything Pittsburgh would be willing to give up at the deadline that could land Eberle.

i wont get into intangibles, whether they be there or not. but his production is undeniable. he is still young. a homegrown pretty much elite by virtually any measure center. add in the fact that he is by far the team's face and most marketable player, i think its fair to say that he is their franchise player.

Orpik is the guy that probably deserves to sit one right now but the reality is that can't/won't happen after Bylsma lobbied for his inclusion on the US team.

Despres was not good against Vancouver but I think his partner has been worse for a few games now.

The other dynamic at play here is that the Penguins are on a 3 game road trip out west, most times the coach will try and get a fringe guy like Bortuzzo at least 1 game. Bylsma got the excuse he needed with Despres' poor outing.

i realize the duh factor here, but id be certainly willing to play ball value wise if he was signed. for a rental, i wont go there again.
