Would Hemsky, Nurse or Klefbom, and a conditional 2nd in 2015 (if Hemsky walks) get RoR?
Colorado gets a replacement 2nd line forward for the season, a stud defensive prospect and a good pick if Hemsky test FA. Might be worth it if Colorado doesn't want to match. - Steven_Dean
First off, I don't think the Oilers don't move Nurse goes unless they get a young to prime-aged top-pairing Dman in return. Second, Klefbom, Hemsky, and a 2nd is only enough in the event that the Avs are certain that he won't resign. Even in that scenario, I'm certain some other team would beat that offer. |

we have Barrie and Elliot who i think have the same potential as Gardiner, so why would we give up one of the best young 2way guys for him! I would rather look a trading Mitchell, McGinn, Talbot, McLoud, Wilson to try and get some help. Not saying those guys well land you a top 4 guy but in a package with picks they might. |

Reimer to Edmonton makes sense, but Gagner to Toronto doesn't. He's not an upgrade over Bozak so there's no point. - Canuckleafer
It's only a matter of time till an Oilers fan sees this and blows up...I'll get some popcorn in the mean time. |

ONE of those three? No. Definitely not. And hemsky? Why in gods name would anyone trade a great young player for Hemsky and a second? That's insane. |

He's not playing like he's an upgrade on Bozak. Plus Bozak-Kessel is practically Kunitz-Crosby in terms of chemistry.
Maybe in a world where Mason Raymond isn't having such a good year, Gagner fits in your top 6 on the wing. But otherwise as Prock says you guys tend run a clear division between top 6 skill and bottom 6 shutdown, so no fit there. |

He's not. I think that's pretty obvious. They cant claim gagner is better offensively. Bozak produces more. They'll try say that's just linemates but its not like gagner plays with scrubs. Bozak is far better defensively, as in not remotely close. Bozak is better on the draw, bigger, and he may not be tough, but certainly not as soft as Gagner.
Gagner for Bozak straight up would be an abysmal trade for the Leafs, to give some perspective.
Gagner would not make the Leafs. Even Oiler fans are starting to realize this. He's total junk. |

Haha. Maybe in three or four years, those guys get to Gardiners level, if you're lucky. They're just prospects at this point. |

That 8 point game was the most annoying thing to happen to these types of conversations too...the rest of the world knew Gagner wasn't what he was touted to be, then that happened and refuelled the argument.
Bozak has really earned a lot of respect in the last calendar year. Still not your usual 1st line centre, but the dude does his job to the best of his ability and constantly progresses. |

The entire hockey world - Edmonton and its fans included - could tell that Gagner was a long shot to be a 1st line centre before that 8 point game happened. I think that as much as it refuelled anyone's lofty expectations for him, it's completely fuelled the other side to have a calling card for why he's overrated.
Honestly, it was two years ago. He scored 38 in 48 last year, and after a truly brutal injury and truly brutal start, he's been doing a lot better last couple of games. Playing 18 minutes a night, being used on the PK, improving in the dot, these are all things I care about more than his comparative value or whether he failed to reach his potential.
I hate having conversations that are ostensibly about a player's abilities, but are actually about how fed up people are with that team's fans. And this thread has been FULL of that. |

Its starting to sound good, minus hemsky, but I dont see hwo that helps the oilers either, it would set back the Oilers D-Depth, and it would set back the Avs forward depth without addressnig the D Problem now. In general its not a good tradining partner.
Unless the teams do a lateral move of ROR for Perron, which doesnt address either teams D issues, it really wont work bw the cubs |

Yeah I try not to be a homer, but I'm not sure if other fan bases are aware of how much hate Sam Gagner gets from Oilers fans and others.
There must be some oilers fan out there that I've never met who thinks Sam Gagner is the best 1st line centre in the Western Conference or something because people seem to have whacked out opinions of what oiler fans think of him. |

Makes sense although if they want a young top4 defenseman with potential then your back to the RoR for Gardiner or Kulikov and maybe a B-level prospect or rental from either team.
Not sure if I would do that if I'm Colorado but you never know. I think that offer sheet from Calgary really screwed them in RoR's trade value IMO. |

Kulikov? Idk if you guys would want or need Fleischman; not sure what your wants/needs are at this point. But ya can't go wrong with Kulikov. System here just isn't for him. |
