>Feel bad for Seabs -- fans may want players to rest but players relish playing in something different and in front of a global audience like the Olympics -- not to mention your national team
>Seabrook seems to get little or no credit for his passing ability (outside of Chicago) -- when Seabs is on his game, his passing as a Dman is as good as anyone in the league -- and creates prime scoring chances --ideal for the big ice
>I'd take Seabrook over several of those Dman choices -- including Weber who I believe is the most overrated Dman in the league -- good player but NOT elite
>I'm hoping Weber gets windburn from all the players blowing by him with the puck

I'm a guy who like the cold way better than the heat (I know I'm in a minority there), so I have a special fondness for the Northern Breeds. Of course, I am a fan of all dogs....

Not sure if anyone else has posted yet, but Chris Kuc reports Khabibulin had surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. Out 4-5 months.

As someone who has had that surgery, I would call 4-5 months extremely optimistic.

Not Jumbo Joe...he's an above average skater...IF he is who you are referring to.

I don't think he is a quick step player, and the big ice might be to his detriment.
He needs to get going and isn't as agile laterally as most of guys on the team.

Seabrook lost out because they wanted left handers.

I can't gripe at who is picked in these things, because whenever tournament teams are planned out the organizers in charge have a distinct idea on what they want in terms of secondary role guys, and what they want the strength at defense to be.

I just think the selection committes already have an idea what and who they want, and unless players exploded during the last months into monsters, their minds were made up.

All the fan second guessing only plays out after the selected team flops.

Canada easily could have sent team A and team B.

I will venture to say I have always thought Weber a big hard rocket point shot first and over all defender second.

Always thought much of his success was derived by Suter as the safety value in the defensive zone.

I still think that although he is a big body on th wall, he really is not a superior guy in his own end...loses many pucks, goes fishing, etc.

But he will always get to go...and the shot is the reason.

....although Knabby didn't realize the mystery shoulder injury was that bad until Stan Bowman told him!

Thus waiting months to decide surgery was needed....

I can't say he had one good period in any league game this year.

The truth is that, while rehabbing, Khabibulin felt a twinge in his shoulder while lifting double shots of vodka and immediately sought out a specialist.

I was watching when he went down; and if I recall correctly, it looked a lot like a groin or knee. Shoulder surgery months later smells exactly like what you and US have posted - a way to keep him on LTIR for the rest of the season. Nice work by Stan (in the handling of the injury, not so much in the signing).

No, probably not, but he is still a human being an I wish him well. That is not an easy surgery to come back from, even more so if it is on your dominant side. Took me fully 11 months to feel 100%.

Better to say I tolerate it far better than the other extreme. I'd rather have to be outside working today than in 100+ with high humidity. To be clear, I don't want to be working outside today but I'd handle it far better than extreme heat.

Fade in

The corridor that leads to the trainers room is dimly lit. A silence is broken by the footsteps of one Khabbullin who walks feverishly to the trainers room. A Stan Bowman walks out of a secret entrance.

SB: Hey Khabby

Khabbullin stops immediately turns around perplexed.

NK: Um...Hey Stan.
SB: How are you feeling today
NK: Pretty good, the trainers thinks I'm close
SB: Are you sure.....you're walking like you have....a....rotator cuff injury. You get that checked out.
NK: You sure Stan......it was my groin that was the problem.
SB: Those family size Vodka bottles you've been buying at Sams Club seem to be the culprit....get that checked out.
NK: I will ...I will. How could you tell.
SB: Your shoulders seem a little....uneven.
NK: Okay..Ok....I will go now.

Khabbullin turns and quickly walks away from Stan....sweating. He turns around as he enters the trainers room....Stan Bowman is gone.

Fade Out....

Isn't the $2MM the token of their appreciation?

Altho surgery is an extreme way of making sure he stays on IR for the rest of the year.
