Absolutely brutal in extra time. Just concede the additional point and go home early.
- Ogilthorpe2

Here is a vital stat that the Hawks had last year. The team last year were just slightly better in the shoot out but won 5 games in O/T without a loss. I believe our big guns are playing to conservative inO/T.

This is my issue with officiating the non call for cross checking in the back
Do the same thing to the stomach of the player it's called. Don't know why they allow it to the back if they are concerned with player safety
I'm surprised more guys are not injured

- molly2522

Exactly. You can't prepare for someone with a nasty check behind you. And the whiplash effect

And who did we have to counter them? Fraser was probably one of the toughest pound for pound but out of his weight class. Jerome dupont? Gary Nylund? Or whatever his name was I get him mixd up with Chris Nilan. Manson was tough but that was a little later. Secord another tough guy but u don't want him fighting goons
- tomcat24

Glen Cochrane was a tough guy that rep'd the Tomahawk well...him and my dude Bob McGill.

No no, I love the banter before the selection. I could see that all happening as well.

I hear you about Subban... sucks he's so good. I would be pretty eye opening for him if he doesn't get selected.

- TyCamScore

Well, I don't think Mike Babcock has any time for guys like Subban because he is high risk. But he said that about Doughty before the games in Vancouver and he turned out to be one of their best defenceman. I just think Yzerman has to do a big selling job on Babcock who probably would rather have Hamhuis, Giordano and maybe even Boyle. Hitchcock will have lots to say about the defence group and he hates high risk guys.

And I think Lindy Ruff will have some strong input on Benn being included.

Detroit now leads in attendance (23,000) and capacity percentage (118%) - why did their attendance increase by about 15% ((3,000 per game) over last year?

So I'm scratching my head trying to figure that out (and how they could be 18% over capacity) when the obvious hit me: they're including the game at the Big House.

Doesn't negate the point of the article, tho: more NHL teams at capacity or getter than NBA teams.

- StLBravesFan

lol...because that was a home game for them...

Even if you throw that out still interesting...I feel the game will continue to be more popular and every other major sport will decline comparatively.

Seabrook makes the team without question if he was left handed.

Question is will they take two righty's??

Steve Sullivan was one of my favorite players to watch. Always rooted and am always rooting for the "Mighty Mite" players like him to do well in this league, buzzing up and down the ice. Gave it all every night for his entire career and always played bigger than he was.

And good luck with not complaining. No question we've been spoiled rotten by this era of Hawks hockey.

- prd797

Yeah that whole line was fun to watch. Sullivan wasn't afraid to get his nose dirty. I root for those players, too. Like martin st. Louis. Didn't sullivan get passed over in a draft? Or maybe a lower pick. That was a steal of a trade. Of course the Hawks never went anywhere anyway. And who am I kidding about not complaining?

Nah...Not playing for ties but have been victimized by poor defensive coverage a few times.

But doesn't the host team only get to keep their average game revenues from that game? The rest goes to the league, I think.

Football won't drop in popularity - the gambling and fantasy league factors will keep interest high.

Staal and Nash should be the only questions. I agree they are bubble players. But the other 3 will make the team.

Keep in mind that Nash may not be scoring as much this season but he was very effective in a shutdown role last Olympics with Toews and M. Richards. Also he has played in 61 international games (56 pts) with 2 Golds and 3 Silver medals over WJC, WC and Olympics. That's pretty extensive.

Staal would be my choice out of those to not make it.

Who do you think will make it over those guys?

- TyCamScore

Nash has had 2 concussions in the last calendar year...

I always thought a market like chicago would have a huge stadium. Guess it is one of the oldest stadiums out there. Didn't they remodel it awhile back to hold more?
- tomcat24

Not so...Too much money to add more seats I guess...and when you can raise the prices constantly I guess it doesn't matter as much.

What time are they announcing team Canada? Hope NHL network covers it instead of 15 straight hours of the same 1 hour of nhl tonight. That is pathetic

Not sure of how split works but I think home team benefits more...

Not saying NFL will necessarily drop but hockey will increase more in popularity as a %. ........NFL unless rule changes are profound will stay #1.

Hockey may not catch basketball etc but it will close the gap.

You really never know how these things are decided. Yzerman could call Seabrook and tell him they have him slotted as their 8th defenceman - do you still want to go? And if he says forget it, I"ll watch from Aruba, then he isn't named.

As someone who's been to Aruba more times than I can remember, I can think of no better place for Seabrook to be while the Craplympics are taking place. Too bad he won't be able to convince Toews, Kane, and Keith to go with him.

I think absolutely he goes...Don't forget last time he didn't stay in top six.
Doughty and Keith could be top pair again.

I would take Seabrook and Subban...

The cell had that upper deck modification several years back that eliminated about 5 thousand seats.
