Bridge deal. Anything more will truly confirm that our management is incompetent.
Trade that pick. A guy that might be Chris Phillips in a few years is no help to this team, especially with others already in the system in front of him.
Drank Malibu and OJs last night. Havent done that since I was 20 I think. Blech. - TheTaoOfSemenko
Agreed. Plenty of dummies talking about how Eckblad is exactly what we need ! Even heard some geniuses say he could come in immediately and help. WTF? I have no doubt he will probably be a good NHL'er, he might even be a franchise D-Man, though that's far from guaranteed, but unless we are building for a 2017 playoff birth, our build through the draft for core players to push us over the hump should be damn near over.
We need to start trading some of these picks for NHL players, and continue to develop our prospects, so that one day, maybe a Moroz or a Khairi or one of those Russian kids can make the decision to move Yak or Ebs easier. Putting our hopes on 18 year old players to come in and be the big difference maker is stupid. Just look at the Oilers...that theory hasn't worked out yet, nor will it ever. |

one more reason to trade the pick.
a vote of confidence from McGuire is basically a strike against in my book. |

It's funny because all the know-it-all troll types saying we'd be due for cap problems with all these young stars on big contracts were assuming that Justin Schultz would fall into the 6 million category. Imagine how good that would be for us if he was conceivably worth that! |

I honestly like Ekblad as a prospect more than like any D prospect since maybe Doughty's year. I would like to draft him, but like we did with Nurse, drafting these of guys won't improve the big club significantly (if we're lucky) for at least a couple of years. |

I wish we could fairly offer him that. People are dumb. They don't consider players current contracts at all either. I heard them say, "Where are they going to find an extra 6 million to pay the Nuge??" When all they need to find is like 2.3 million or something. |

there should be a rule on here that says if vote to use the pick at the draft that you are not allowed to b!tch about the slow rebuilding process for 4 years.
If you vote for a trade for a veteran you can female dog all you want when it makes no difference.

Khaira's either of Indian or Punjabi descent so I don't know if he's Muslim. Can't find a source anywhere though. |

Reminds of when Kadri was on the team, someone who had "NHL Experience" being released by the Leafs to be in the tourny. But was just a loose cannon train wreck taking penalties.
To me Kadri was one of the worst Team canada members in recent years. |

I am always careful when analyzing TML players. It seems to me Kadri has had some ups and downs....but if he played for Tampa Bay or Nashville would he even be talked about as anything more than a developing prospect? Again, not a knock on Kadri, I'm just saying that sometimes you hear a name often enough you think he is more special than he really is. |

oh I agree, the hype machine a player gets from becoming a leaf is crazy. I take Gardiner as the newest example, he was a meh prospect with the Ducks, but has a few decent games with the Leafs and now he is a cant miss Dman with crazy trade value.

I'm on the fence as long as we bring in a good NHL defenseman or two regardless. If we make the pick, I hope we don't stand pat and expect Ekblad to fix things. If we trade/package the pick for a good player, I'm fine depending on if said player is capable of making an immediate impact. |
