Giroux has to be on the team. He brings heart, physicality and is arguably the best face off man of the bunch. - flyerdude17
Now? Yes. If the team was made in November he wouldn't be. I think it would be nice to have him (and other strong faceoff men) on wing to take draws if/when the centres get thrown out of the draws. |

I never said it was fair/warranted...I have a similar issue (though the case might not be as strong) with the lack of consideration for Giordano... I really hope he plays his way onto that team. - Saskabush
Giordano has around as good of a chance at making the team as Hamhuis. Granted both have left handed shots but still. Way too many guys ahead on the depth chart.

This is wrong Tavares is on a poop team has been out played by hall in every year of their careers (Ex/21v21) and hall at his ppg pace would be 3rd in scoring without missing games - Oilers42
....But Tavares made it to the playoffs last year...Kind of proves the validity of my argument if you ask me |

Well the Oiler have poor defence, and goaltending (though that has improved to be fair) and a lack of veteran leadership.....none of those things will be an issue for team Canada though...Someone else can answer for the Rangers (don't follow, and/or give 2 sh*ts about them) My argument is that chemistry between Stlouis and Stamkos should be just as, if not more important than chemistry between Crosby and Kunitz. When teams key on Crosby you still have 2 of the best in the NHL to deal with...if they leave Crosby alone, then he burns you. Win Win - Saskabush
Kunitz Crosby is proven chemistry , St. Louis and stamkos sounds great , how will they play together , can u prove they will have good chemistry??? On what basis ? Edm should have a better record then 2 Nd worst in the league dude , sorry but chemistry or lack of it is part of the problem, not nec the biggest but part of it |

I seriously hope Kunitz does not make team Canada. Everybody is raving about how this guy is a production king, could play alongside Crosby because they have chemistry blah blah blah.
You put anybody with Crosby and they'll contribute in large numbers. Even if we take someone like E. Stall or J. Benn. You don't think guys like these with their shots won't snipe goals with Crosby spoon feeding them in a tournament?
Kunitz comes off as a free-loader from another players excellence - and no chance he'd have the size and strength to go against Team USA in the corners when you look at the size they locked for the Olympics. - keithward
Do you even know anything about hockey?Kunitz does A LOT on the ice. |

Bold questions from a penguin fan. Kunitz is a good player but you have to look past your bias and ask yourself, what is he without the kid? |

Good point but he is also expected to play on the 1st D pair with Phaneuf, got to control his ice time. |

Besides the fact that they play on a line together? Or that Stamkos has won 2 Richard trophies already?...not sure, maybe the Tampa fans can answer that |

Not saying he wont, i d love to see Kuntiz crosby stamkos... but 1) its not absolute that Stamkos is healthy and 2) Stamkos is a center potentially playing wing ... how do you know that works better then taveres, giroux or even neal (only if stamkos cant play!) on the right side |

look at his numbers without the kid for the past four seasons... its speaks for itself |

Taylor Hall has as many or more points than 6 of the 9 players on that list and has been explosive lately (despite how terrible his team is) and he somehow doesn't even get a mention?
I know the oilers suck but come on... - NEEDSMORHORCOFF
His problem is that he comes from a losing environment, has never played in a playoff game, etc., so how do you take him over a guy like Couture or Giroux or St. Louis? Don't blame Yzerman if Hall doesn't get picked.
This is why as a Canadian fan I get so angry about the Oilers and their management which breeds losing. Fire Lowe, change the culture, and next time around you'll have more than one Oiler on team Canada.

It's not the only way to put together a team, but if Kunitz is in there because he's gelled with Crosby, I'd think to consider James Neal for a Penguins line. Those 3 together look spectacular and if it's about chemistry, not about who's the best players on separate teams, this may be a consideration.
But Canada is so stacked it's almost impossible to go wrong. You could miss out on the gold, but it won't be because you chose Bergeron over Richards or something like that. |

I'd take Taylor Hall in a second, and wouldn't lose a minute of sleep in doing so.
That kid is a great player and he is absolutely being penalized for playing on a team that has, to be kind, seen better days.
I won't rip Chris Kunitz; he's a good player and does good things for the Pens.
But come on, people. If you watch Taylor Hall play 10 games, you know why he was a No. 1 overall pick and that, quite frankly, he's one of the 14 best forwards in Canada.
And I'm not even a fan of the Oilers. |

Even if that's true , there is still the chemistry , if it's not a big issue then please explain teams like the oilers and the rangers that seemingly have lots of talent but don't win??? - Brianandr1
You don't think Sid can develop chemistry with Stamkos and St.Louis? |

That would call for a different discussion (I was assuming a healthy Stamkos)...though I still maintain Stlouis deserves a spot on the team. |

False. I have never seen Kunitz coast back into the d zone. The same cannot be said about Giroux. They were blasting his effort early this year when the team was struggling and his goal scoring was down. The local Philly guys were saying it was effecting his entire game.
Giroux can be dominating when he wants to be. He can also be very average. - mjk3122
That is completely false. You have no idea what you are talking about. Chris Kunitz has no business being on an Olympic roster. Plain and simple. |
