It's funny you mention Burns. I heard a couple talking about him too. Not sure he'd be a good choice with the others available.

He'd be a great rover type player. I'd take him over sharp.

Sharp - Bergeron - Duchene
Thornton - Getzlaf - Burns

Couture + Richards extras

You have Crosby on the wing? If you do, why? He's not only Canada's best center. He's the best center in the world.

Sharp is one of best two-way forward in hockey he can play anywhere on team Canada. Top 6, bottom 6, on the PK. Plus he a more responsible player compared to Burns.

Can he play defence if needed?

Crosby, toews, Bergeron, couture, Giroux all play great two way games...sharp isn't needed.

Toews is as good on faceoffs as Crosby, I like Crosby with some more space on the wing. I just like the line of Giroux, Crosby, Toews, does not really matter who is on wing and who C.

He's been on the wing. There was a reason the Sharks moved him. His defensive game is not very good.

His familiarity with Toews will help him out IMO.

Nah. I'm not a fan of grouping all these teammates onto lines. Guys are pros, they can play with anyone.

Kunitz shouldn't make the team because of Crosby, same for sharp/toews, Richards/carter, perry/getzlaf, sea brook/Keith etc...

FINALLY!!!! SOMEONE ELSE WHO SEES IT! LIKE (frank)!!!! LOL. Kunitz IS SO MASSIVELY OVERRATED because he plays with Crosby. If Kunitz was so good why wasn't he on the 2010 team?! Why didn't he generate this buzz when he was in Anaheim!? WAKE UP PEOPLE AND NHL GMs LOL, the guys is an average to decent player at best. You put ANYONE with Sid and they light it up, guaranteed. Look at what Sid did for Pascal Dupuis, another duster who put up good numbers along Sid.
- Flyers_V88

This is straight out false. 1)
The man has 7 seasons of 20 or more goals , 2 of them on the ducks and two more with pittsburgh with no Crosby and limited Malkin. That is straight out wrong
2) Kunitz is very physical and a perfect match for team USA in the corners
3) it's a 14 day tournament, chemistry means everything ! Is Benn a better player yes , will he have chemistry with Crosby???? I don't know and neither does anyone on this board

They shouldn't make the team BECAUSE of it (Kunitz case) but it can certainly help someone to make the roster. It's not like Sharp isn't good enough to be there.

I don't think Thornton fits on team Canada. I certainly wouldn't start him over Crosby, Getzlaf, Toews or Stamkos and I don't think it's a good idea to overload the team with centers playing the wing. One or two is ok, but they should lean towards natural wingers over centers playing out of position. I actually think Matt Duchene should be a 13th forward because I wouldn't start him over the top 4 centers I listed. Kunitz is a no brainer (in my opinion), to make the team and play with Crosby. I also think St. Louis needs to be on the team. Yzerman publicly said last Olympics that leaving him off that team was a mistake. He'll make the team and most likely play on a line with Stamkos. Patrick Sharp is playing out of his mind right now. To me, he's a lock as well. He'll probably play with Toews. Jamie Benn should make the team as well. He'd compliment Stamkos and St. Louis very well, like he does with Tyler Seguin. The only question mark I have is who would play with Getzlaf and Perry? Rick Nash seems like the most logical choice due to his experience and success on the international stage. Taylor Hall might be somebody to look at when that time comes. Here's my team Canada...
Team Canada projected lineup
F:
Kunitz-Crosby-Tavares
Nash-Getzlaf-Perry
Sharp-Toews-Giroux
Benn-Stamkos-St. Louis
(Duchene, Hall)
D:

Boumesteer-Pietrangelo
Subban-Doughty

Talk about completely ignoring D

The U.S. squad seem to have a better top 6 watching the games from home.

This is what the line-up should look like. St. Louis- Crosby -Stamkos
Benn -Geztlaf -Perry
Sharp -Toews -Tavares
Couture- Chuck Norris- Duchene

Hall
Giroux

This group is sure to win

With respect to the guys who deserve to be there, grouping teammates could be immensely beneficial. Grouping Getzlaf and Perry together makes obvious sense. It's easier to keep the chemistry together when you've had two players on the same line all season. The same reason the Sharks top line was grouped together in 2010.

They'll be a tough team to play against though. Seems like a team that will not allow many chances, and can burn you if you make a mistake. If Miller plays as well as he did in 2010, they'll medal for sure.

You mean ignoring Offense? team USA has taken a pretty defensive minded group.

Ek, of the current teams in the east and west that are in playoff spots who do you think drops out? And who steps up?

- GOLEAFS71

I absolutely love that second line. Btw, does anyone think the decision makers for Team USA over thought everything. I'm not impressed with the team they announced.

1)Why is James Neal not considered? He a legit sniper and has had great chemistry with Crosby and Kunitz since Malkin s been out... He also leads the league in points per game, not saying he should make the squad , but if stamkos can't play he should be considered
2) there is no way St. Louis should play on Sid s wing over Kunitz, 67 goals. 155 points over the past three seasons ( which is basically 2, 48 games last year, half this season) . .

- Brianandr1

Because he's a douchebag and there is no room in the Olympics for players who knee guys intentionally when they are down.

Giroux is a fine player but he is a +19 for his career. Kunitz is a +148 to compare. You need responsible 5 on 5 play from your "depth" players. CG racks up a lot on the PP but I don't see him getting much time there with the roster in place.
