Well I was debating between him and Marleau as one of the extras myself for "my Team Canada"(lol). - Nucker101
Don't be too sure that Yzerman takes him this time. He passed over him in 2010. I think he should be there |

You're making good points, but none of these will be issues for Canada on any line or set of combinations, you know? Like Kunitz is good, but pick the best players available, period. No history, no seasonal chemistry. Look what happened in 2006 with that "team built to compete".... The Swiss ended up beating us 2-0 and we didn't even finish top-3. - Flyers_V88
I think you're making a good point about Turin. They had a roster that couldn't play up to snuff. But, that roster was an all-star roster. 2010 had more combinations of players who had chemistry it was unbelievable. Heatly - Thorton - Marleau, all played on one line leading up to the event and played tremendously. It was a two-way, defensively conscious unit with Thorton and Marleau just blowing me away with plays they made without the puck.
But you had other examples in Getzlaf/Perry, Seabrook/Keith, Neidermeyer/Pronger from their Anaheim days.
The 06 team... Had an awesome defense and Goaltending but the forward core was a mess. No chemistry, whatever roles the players were there for was shot before they ever stepped foot on the ice.
I have my own view on the roster, but it differs from others I guess. |

Kunitz, Crosby, Giroux/Perry
Stamkos, Thornton, St. Louis
Duchene, Toews, Perry
Tavares, Bergeron, Getzlaf
Its so tough to make lines...
But I think those should be the top 2 lines. Kunitz has to play with Crosby. |

Joe Thornton does not make the team, let alone centre the 2nd line.
The guy is invisible every Olympics and most playoffs. No thanks. |

It would be a shame to leave off MSL off this team, look at what he's done without Stammer he's still scoring at ppg clip. Also I'm suprised Nash hasn't been mentioned here. Big ice surface could put Perry more on the bubble due to his speed, insert Nash in his spot. - mpongo
did you expect his scoring to drop off after stamkos went down?? he was winning scoring titles and stanley cups when stamkos was 14. in any case, yes it would be ridiculous to leave him off the team, but they did exactly that in 2010, so who knows |

Bergeron and Toews will undoubtdely be penalty killers on this team, if you have sharp and Richards there well you have penalty killers more than efficient. Two of these guys are premiere Selke threats and winners
Saying who is going to kill penalties is dumb |

Hamhuis and Weber reunited? He doesn't get much love outside of Vancouver but he's been playing extremely well lately. - Canuckleafer
Probably cause he's nowhere good enough except to a bunch of Homer idiots.

Forwards
Nash - Crosby - Stamkos
Tavares- Toews - Giroux
Duchene - Getzlaf - Perry
Couture - Bergeron - Sharp(checking line)
Thornton, Benn/Seguin
Defensemen
Keith - Weber
Subban - Doughty
Vlasic - Pietrangelo
Hamhuis/J-Bo - Seabrook
Goalies
Price
Luongo
Who Cares
- I doubt the 3rd goalie even plays, I laugh at the people who spend time debating who should go
- I wanted 3 lefites(Keith, Vlasic, Hamhuis) out of the 8 d-men
- Vlasic deserves to go anyways, so damn underrated
- Would prefer Hamhuis over J-Bo, Hamhuis plays tougher minutes with similar possession numbers
- Seguin is awesome, but from what I've been reading and have seen, he's much more effective as a center and he's not a top 5 Canadian center, might prefer Benn as the 15th forward for that reason
- Not sure why many don't have one of Thornton or Marleau on their teams, unless you're in the"they don't have what it takes to win" camp. They've been two of the best forwards(along with Couture) on one of the best teams in the league this season, at least one of them should make the top 14.
- Could make a case for any of St.Louis, Benn, Marleau, Lucic, Kunitz, Neal, Staal etc.... - Nucker101
1. Nash hasn't play the LW since he was traded here.
2. How do you have Nash a head of Neal, Hall, St. Louis and Perry?

I would definitely put Kunitz in there because the chemistry with Crosby. it's a short tourney, why go look for new chemistry when you can slot someone who has great chemistry and a toughness to the game - huangism

Nash is left-handed and from what I understand he played LW for Columbus quite a bit. The lines aren't a depth chart, just the way I see certain players complementing each other and thriving in certain roles. 3 scoring lines and a shutdown/checking line. |

Me too, but he's not a bsa choice at all actually, would be a nice extra forward to actually have, he's so versatile. Can play wing, center, very good all-around game and has lots of experience. I actually over-looked him myself, versatility like that is great to have. |

Probably the guys listed as 2 (Couture) & 3 (Getzlaf) in the league leaders in blocking shots among forwards, but Bergy is 10th with Benn only 3 less than him.
Kunitz has less blocked shots than Crosby FYI, hes not that kind of forward, he has 23 giveaways and only 12 takeaways, I woudlnt call him a rock of a defensive player - DDM-Coga
You failed to mention his 91 hits this year and his compete level. He can pass, shoot and has a very very high hockey IQ.
I bet He gets a lot more respect from coaches and players throughout the league than from 4 or 5 clowns Penguins haters here. |
