Hall is also less than 40% puck possession player despite starting over 57% of his shifts in the offensive zone. Doesn't deserve it this year IMO. Has to say something about his lines defensive play that those numbers exist despite his numbers. He's not gonna crack my top 3 scoring lines or the 4th line checking line. I know that he's playing on a horrible team, but I feel safer taking a guy like Duchene who has better possession numbers on a better team, used to playing in a more structured system with similar offensive ability. Tavares also lead his Isles to the playoffs last year. Nash should be a lock IMO, just a great all-around player. - Nucker101
They are the second last team in the league. The team has no play. You can't fault Hall for that. Watch the guy play. He more than deserves this right now. I could get Cunitz numbers playing on Crosby's line. Hall has to generate his own as the coach has continually tried to tweak his top 6. Sometimes playing with Ryan Smyth who plays smart hockey but he very well might be the slowest player in the league right now. Really like him but he lost his legs 45 seasons ago. |

I have to agree. If Hall was playing with Crosby this year he would have twice the points Cunitz has. Cunitz is riding coat tails. Crosby gets injured tomorrow and he is lucky to have another 10 points unless he gets paired up with Malkin and rides his coat tails. No matter how you slice this, Cunitz is not line one and Crosby is, so Yzerman and staff needs to pick a guy that can generate plays on his own. All the other players mentioned are proven to do this.
Hall is better than most. Giroux has had an incredibly inconsistent year. I like him but that has to make you wonder what player you are getting. Bergeron should make the team for his FO and PK ability alone. Thornton is lazy in the playoffs and has looked week in every team Canada appearance to date.
With a team whose locks are almost entirely centers, Hall has played a consistent strong offensive game with incredibly speed and offensive ability as a dedicated LW. He has played center and can take the draw if the center is kicked out but he is a LW and knows how to play that role. He has amazing vision passing and has always been a strong goal scorer. He is a game changer in terms of momentum on the ice, not a coaster like Thornton. He has played on one of the worst teams in the league his entire career and still he can create plays out of no where by himself.
I am not saying that he should be on the team but he should be on the bubble if you are putting Couture, Richards, St. Louis, Benn, Cunitz, Sharp and Thornton there. - ABFan918
This is false
1) His name is Kunitz not cunitz
2) He a seven time 20 goal scorer (twice on the ducks, once in a year with Crosby out a good chunk of the season, and once with both Crosby and malkin missing large portions of aseason)
3) He s as tough and as physical as they come in the corners
4) He having a career year 21 goals in 42 games. Top ten in points and goals. Number one in plus/minus in the whole league!!!!
Do you actually watch penguins games???? |

Kunitz would be a great addition for the Oil!
How about Kunitz for Hall? Thoughts? 1..2...3.. go... - Canuckleafer
Penguins laugh and hang up the phone because Kunitz has great chemistry with Sid and they don't think Hall could find that chemistry. |

No way do you leave Nash off of the team, his two-way game is being underrated as always and he's a legit 35+ goal scorer. |

this, plus he has experience and he was crosby's wing when they won gold in vancouver. he's part of the leadership group and as a natural winger, which canada doesn't really have many of that can be listed in a conversation with all their amazing centers, i find it hard to believe he won't be on the team. |

in this case ud be leaving the best scorer of the group off.
as well as the guy with the most experience and best two way game |

Hall - Crosby - Nash
Toews - Getzlaf - Perry
Benn - Tavares - Duchene
Sharp - Bergeron - Giroux
Thornton, Couture
Stammer if he's healthy obviously slots in somewhere there.

I am almost 100% certain we won't see Thornton on this team because of the big ice.....Joe is a great player but it's a different game on the big ice
and he only had 2 pts in 2010 |

i don't see canada picking that much youth. guys like hall, seguin, duchene, tavares, stamkos, benn, etc. are all 24 or under (most of them under) and have zero olympic experience. there's gonna be some veteran presence and experience chosen. |

Agreed, it's why I had Nash on my team and Joe as a 13/14th forward. I know were all picking players that we'd choose, but one guy Yzerman is picking for sure will be Marty St.Louis. |

3 of those guys you named are Captains of there NHL teams lol
then Crosby, Toews, Giroux, Weber, Getzlaf all captains as well
leadership and experience is not an issue because of age. this is what got canada in trouble in 2006 taking the same old guys who won in 2002 because of "veteran presence" and "experience" |

Nash wouldn't make Canada's second team. Concussions have done him in, not close to the player he once was...although he was always overrated. |

St. Louis should definitely be there, if not for experience, for the fact he won the Art (frank)ing Ross last year. The guy can still play.
Thornton shouldn't be there IMO, his game wouldn't translate at all to the Olympic ice, unless they take him just for PP time. |

yea and a guy like tavares showed real leadership rallying his young team to 10+ straight losses at one point this season.

this statement is pretty ridiculous. i'm guessing you don't remember nash's 3 point game against vancouver after coming back from his injury?
nash is a great player. this overrated and concussion stuff is overblown. if you don't agree, fine, but nash is a phenomenal player and just because you don't watch him play doesn't mean he's overrated and sucks. |
