Steen was born in Winnipeg and holds Cdn/Swe citizenship. He wouldn' be able to play international hockey at the highest level if he didn't decide to choose to play for Sweden, but he could play for Canada, and since there is no actual Team C, I'll keep him on it. But thanks. - 1979AD
same as Stastny and Pominville, claim all the duos citizenship guys for Team C |

Yeah, he'll play for Sweden. I was just commenting on the "not Canadian" part. |

Didn't realize that. They'd both be on the Team C bubble. |

He's not Canadian in the eyes of IIHF. Yes he was born there, but so was Cam Fowler. |

Not true again. You're on a roll today.
There's some red tape involved, but players can switch the countries they represent as long as they're citizens: http://www.iihf.com/home-...ips/iihf-eligibility.html |

You didnt ge my point, his stats show he turns over the puck more than he takes it away, so if he is effective on the PK, he would have strong takeaway numbers, but he has really weak ones. So statistically he isnt a strong PKer, someone who turns over the puck twice as much as he takes it away isnt an ideal guy in my mind - DDM-Coga
STOP USING FACTS WHEN DISCUSSING KUNITZ . My vote is against him making the team (although he could very well make it). He has a valid reason for bring Kunitz, but come on man, he has to agree that there are many valid reasons against bringing him too (you have done a good job in bringing up those points) |

I agree with this there are many arguments both ways on this . . But one that I won't except is " he s not first line Canadian material" . This is pretentious nonsense and makes us sound like Yankee fans |

Quoted directly from the website.
" He has an international transfer card (ITC) that shows the transfer to the national association of his new country and which was approved and dated at least four years before the start of the IIHF competition in which he wishes to participate."
So Steen would have had to switch 4 years ago. |

He is not a 1st line Canadian Material, any guy who plays wtih Crosby will almost automatically get that benefit attached to him. Take Kunitz out of Pittsburgh and its highly unlikely he is even mentioned. There are true 1st line guys who can take that spot riding shot gun with Sid and offer more that Kunitz can. I would rather have Couture or Benn in that spot.
The chemistry with Sid thing doesnt sell me on him. |

yes, played on the 1994 canadian olympic team while he was a hold out after getting canadian citizenship. he also played for the czech's again at age 40 at the world championships. this is not a good looking roster but it's probably most remembered for forsberg's goal against hirsch. http://www.hockeycanada.c.../Olympics/1994/CAN-Roster

Team USA brought 8, not the best 8, but 8 none the less. Would Canada? Unless killed by injuries, that guy probably won't play. |

Which of those guys consistently kill penalties Bergeron and Toews , that's its . Kunitz has been a main stay on Pitts penalty kill which is ranked second in the NHL , I love perry, Getzlaf , couture . . Question: do you want them out there in the third period of a 2 2 game in the metal round?? There are prob 25 players better at it among Canadian forwards then Kunitz. Which are being considered for team canada??? - Brianandr1
Dude, a mainstay? Kunitz doesn't kill penalties often. He's totalled all of 4:07 on the PK this year. For the ENTIRE YEAR. Divided by games played that's a whopping 5 seconds a game.
I'm not going to get into this debate because I find it pointless but using Kunitz's PK ability is an awful argument. |

Like Kunitz. Like chemistry but when you have the talent pool that Canada has he doesn't make the team. Kunitz is great with Crosby. Imagine how great Benn, Hall, Giroux, etc., would be. |
