Last night was a true indication of this, one solid defenseman would do wonders, like Clement said, you usually get one attempt to clear it out of the zone, & if you don't, they hem you in for 45 seconds of solid pressure, one solid D man added to the mix would really alleviate some pressure on Mason.

I don't think adding one guy is going to make the team clear the zone that much better. It's not like someone can come in and have a forcefield around him as he deftly carries or passes the puck out...I think it's a team effort and the puck support has to be better...Grossmann must have checked and forced guys off the puck in the D zone 6 or 7 times last night and it seemed like an open Canuck was always right there to get it to keep posession...that has to change. That said, adding an offensive D man (or two, going into next season, given the probability of Timo/Mez being gone) with puck carrying capability wouldn't hurt...
