He's also on a four game point streak. Five points in four games. Tonight's assist was huge in a game where a lot of passes were cut off around the opposing crease.

voracek's point streak snapped tonight, oh well

do you know anything of team composition? no? figured
- 2Real

He's probably not the next BIGGEST problem, but I agree he's a problem on this team.

He was due for that hot streak, his possession numbers are amazing and before the hot streak he had such bad luck in regards to on-ice shooting percentage.

honestly - i can;t single out a single dman that played a good game. they were that bad. thankfully the forwards played lights out in teh defensive end and mason was there to make the big stops. the d did very little this game.
- moylander

speed and forecheck pressure is a good strategy against the flyers

Problem: consistency

This team is comprised heavily of grindy type of players, which by nature can be pretty streaky. Moving Hartnell for a shoot first type of player with some finess would help this team with consistency in scoring.

Gotta give credit when it's due. I stand by my word that he's not a top line player but a very good depth player. He looked great tonight though, a real difference maker. Scott Hartnell on the other hand is probably the most unappreciated player on this team.
- Schenn2shine

Enough of your love in with Hartnell, at least look at it objectively and realize his time has passed here. He is no longer an effective top 6 player. I was at the game in Edmonton and watched him specifically. He was on his can more than he was up. Giroux has picked up his game effectively without Hartnell and will now probably make the Olympic Team. That is what leaders do push through it.

We all laugh at Gill's lack of speed but he's played pretty well in his few games. It's time to get Mez out of the lineup and tweak the pairings:
Timonen-schenn
Gill-Coburn
Streit-Grossmann

It can't be worse than what we got last night

why in the world would anyone want to trade Wayne Simmonds?

I still think it leaves the team vulnerable against speedier players. That lineup guarantees at least one slow defenseman on the ice at all times.

Mez had a really bad game though, so going with Gill can't make things much worse

Giroux is officially a plus player now. He is also creeping into point per game territory. 37 points in 39 games.

Good points
Calgary isn't exactly loaded with high end, speedy offensive talent though, so I'd give Gill a shot tonight.

I was frankly shocked that we won that game last night. They had us hemmed in our own zone for much of the third period. And even then it took a flukey goal to put Vancouver up. That goal however, felt inevitable.

Big time goal by Schenn to tie it up and Mason actually gives me some confidence that we can win a shootout here and there.

Once again the Cooter line impressed every time out.

Couturier line and Giroux line have been outstanding. Those two guys specifically are the best skaters on this team. (I excluded Mason because he's clearly been the best and most consistent player).

The 2nd line has been alright but needs to be protected by Berube and put in favorable situations.

The 4th line has been atrocious. I'm not one of those guys who expects the 4th line to generate lots of scoring chances or score goals, but they have been thoroughly outplayed for a while now. You want your 4th line to provide some energy, but more than anything, you want them to rack up some minutes without hurting the team. I don't think Downie is comfortable on the 4th line and I'm not sure why he's down there. Why would the team trade a 4th line pk guy to get a 4th line guy who doesn't kill penalties?

I, also, think Rinaldo has taken a step back. Both in terms of discipline and overall play.

Was Couts on the ice for any of the Sedin line goals?

The times I saw him out there he was doing a pretty good job against that line. They seemed at their best when the Canucks got the matchup they wanted.
