is there a team worse at clearing their zone?
- Marc D

Meszaros was...well. I've beaten that horse well past death.

Coburn was bad tonight. No other way around it.

I've always said you shouldn't kill a player for a bad couple of games, so I definitely am not forgetting that Coburn has easily been the best defenseman on the ice this year for them.

But Meszaros...Dear Lord. I truly don't see how anyone we have in the system could be worse.

Timonen was his usual stable self

He was solid...had one spot where he got caught and ran around a bit, but yeah, he was definitely solid.

Unfortunately, Meszaros & Coburn were terrible.

I ran into Hank in a grocery store last year and started talking to him. Nice guy had all the time in the world for my friend and I.

playing lefties on their off side really kills them when they play a team with speed

its either a weak back hand flip that goes out for delay of game or a soft X ice pass turnover

and all the failed keeps on the backhand at the blueline

My dad ran into him at the YVR airport right before the world championships last year, definitely a classy guy and didn't mind talking for a few minutes.

Exactly -- I've been saying this for years now. I realize that RH defenseman are hell to find, but with Gus injured, there's no way in hell I'd be playing Meszaros over Bruno Gervais.

Yeah, I'm saying it: I'd at least take the bad RH defenseman over the bad LH defenseman, because at least Gervais might keep a puck in or get a puck out on his strong side -- something that Meszaros just...well. Enough of that.

WE WON! Amazing! Maybe if they keep winning, Homer might be able to pull the trigger on something that makes sense and gets them a little help.

With the way this season is going, I don't think he'd trade Coots yet.

Now Simmonds...I could see that might be a "sell high" kind of thing, but at least it would be a hockey trade, as opposed to the Flyers getting bent over like they would've earlier in the season.

He's also on a four game point streak. Five points in four games. Tonight's assist was huge in a game where a lot of passes were cut off around the opposing crease.

In fairness, 2 drew in due to injury. In reality we should have 3 in our top 7. Corrado should probably be top 7 but is playing in the minors since he's only 20.

Out of our regulars, Bieksa and Tanev are the only 2 RHD.

Well one of the reason why every Canucks fan keeps proposing Edler trades is because we currently have Garrison and Hamhuis as 2 top 4 lefties(both BC boys). And Stanton, the guy we picked up from waivers off of Chicago has been a solid 3rd pairing lefty. Bieksa is a top 4 righty, same with Tanev. Corrado is a young kid who has top 4 upside, also a righty and always looks ready for 3rd pairing duty.

Leaves Edler as the odd man out and as you guys saw tonight the Canucks lack finishing ability and could use a top 6 forward.

Agreed -- and right now...they won the game, and if they can get a point or two against Calgary, they will have the tiniest of breathing room for a day or two.

They can afford to wait.

Cobunr has struggled, especially with the puck, the last three or four games. He did have a great shot block on the Downie PK, could have been big trouble if it got through.

But yeah...he's had issues. Grossmann played a really good game. So did Streit.

- Jsaquella

honestly - i can;t single out a single dman that played a good game. they were that bad. thankfully the forwards played lights out in teh defensive end and mason was there to make the big stops. the d did very little this game.
