It is the same core. JT, Bailey, Grabs, Nielsen, Martin, KO, Hamonic, A-Mac, Nabby. Same guys that Snow wants to build around each year can't collectively figure out what it takes to win games. The coaches suck, I get it. The GM is lost. But eventually, you expect to see the players be able to figure s**t out and hold a f**king lead. Snow didn't blow that game last night. Neither did Cappy. That was all on the players. Frans giveaway. Idiots flailing all over the ice in a desperate attempt to hold a lead. The second line missing chance after chance to score and put the game out of reach.
I think the time has come to blow up this "core", along with changing the coach and GM. I can't see keeping this group together any longer. It's been year after year of failure and no growth (aside from the aberration of last year, which is all you can call it since for years before and a year after this team has been a bottom five team). - Jethro09
thats not a great idea...trading one or 2...maybe.
coach has got to go and the hardest part for me is that i have ability for my voice to be heard by the big boys... |

it's the "shoot from anywhere" mentality that kills his line. He throws weak shots on goal up high so the puck gets frozen, no rebounds and no creatvity. He may as well be playing by himself - Isles_since_6
Yeah, he's the other extreme. Shooting from wherever into the goalies logo is not a great decision to make with the puck. He has been playing better of late but i agree it's a maddening quality of his. Goring talks up his shooting like he's Brett Hull. |

Agreed. I think some will refuse to realize that JT and Okposo have A LOT more space because of the attention Vanek gets. That said, stupid chants like 'We Want Moulson' will pretty much assure that whatever remote chance we had of signing Vanek will be gone. - keaner17
Yep. Bad move by the fans. Chant for Snow's and Cappy's head. That's ultimately where the problem lies. |

I agree. I think coaching is the biggest problem right now. I can't image these same dopey mistakes happening with a successful NHL coach. Cappy had them playing a wide open system that has only had success with the most talented teams (which the Islanders aren't). He never adjusted to the injuries. The team consistently came out flat and not ready to play. The team hasn't played a 60 minute game all year. The prospect development has been questionable at best. Players are missing their defensive assignments. All this has been going on for months. The players share the blame but it's the coach's job to hold them accountable. Even if you think Cappy is a good coach (which his record shows he's not), then he's lost this team and they need a change. No good NHL coach would accept this nonsense. A good coach would have at least 5 more wins with this team.
Snow and Wang are also to blame. None of us were happy with the lack of FA acquisitions to address the team’s deficiencies. However, I still think the biggest issue right now is the coaching staff.
BTW I’m glad Snow didn’t panic and pull a Milbury and trade away all the prospects for some stop gap that probably wouldn’t have helped. - JimmyP
totally agree.

I think whoever was chanting that is a misguided idiot. He's had some bad moments lately but be careful what you wish for. Their agnst should be directed elsewhere. As far as the bold goes I think it's hysterical that Capuano FINALLY put nielsen, Grabs, and Bailey on a line and they were great last night. How long have I (and some others)been saying this now for secondary scoring? Okposo instead of Bailey would be even better. Best line we had for most of last year. Capuano=Moron. - Cptmjl
AND the bull poop that Gudas pulled yesterday would have been taken care of immediately, not a little push from ko & vanek (which isnt their game, cant blame them for not being physical)...clutterbuck can pot a few goals while making the defense remember that if they touch JT they will pay for it...and this would put the ko-neilsen-grabner line back together and they can haul baileys ass out of here... |

Blow it up doesn't mean trade them all. It means get rid of the passengers and accept that Snow missed on some of these guys. Obviously, you keep JT, KO. The rest should be up for trade IF you can improve the team by moving them. Bailey and Grabs are not players to build around. A-Mac isn't a guy you build around. Time to shake up the make up of this team, try to bring guys In that come from winning teams, maybe not the most talented guys, but guys that know how to win and have been part of teams that don't have this pathetic losing culture. The isles need character and winning attitude as much as anything else. A shake up may be just what this team needs. That, and a new coach, GM and owner, but I digress... |

its much better than the frans/bailey/grabner school of thought which is "DONT (frank)ING SHOOT UNLESS YOU HAVE TO" |

Yeah, hear you but I somehow doubt you voicing your displeasure about the coaching staff is going to have an effect on Capuano's job status. |

He is, it was a bad f'in play.. not only was it a pass, but it was directly into the slot.. Its like they are trying to find a way to lose to get rid of Cappy.
