We can't even replace Ranger. But replacing Phaneuf will be easy.

Dont need to. Its quite clear where people stand.
Let a poop Dman get a free pass for being crap every single game, and then bash our number 1 Dman who goes up against top lines every single game and does a solid job.
Seriously. Its sad how people will blame Phaneuf for everything but then decide to give Ranger a free pass because he plays bottom pairing minutes..
If anything, Ranger should be the one doing a good job considering he plays sheltered minutes. But yet, he's garbage.
I dont think these same people gave komisarek a free pass playing those minutes, either. They never talked about his money. Just how he was terrible. - jbold
the bolded.. he doesnt.. everyone else is sucking so much he has to take on their role. |

and lets nto forget: Jbo 2 years ago was a joke contract, because he had nobody to help him out and looked like poop. Only reason his name is being brought up right now is because he's playing on a team that has another top-pairing d-man, and forwards that support the d. - Feeling Glucky?
Forwards supporting the D cannot be understated, and the Leafs don't do it at all...

I'm sayin! The return for 2 months of Kaberle was incredible! Part of the reason we got so much for him was his absolutely steal of a cap hit at $4.25 million... that was one of the greatest signings made despite the NTC... - SofaKingBored
they got Colborne, 1st and 2nd for Kaberle
that was a great deal at the time
just because the leafs wasted the picks and ruined Colborne doesnt change that fact

Ok...so... Maybe half the teams in the league have a #1 better than Dion by this Assessment....
And of those 15 guys, how many are available? - Big_Lightnin
Hell, the dmen that aren't as good as Dion aren't even available!!!

Somebody was bashing Phaneuf for not being able to make a pass, circling back, dumping it and hoping a forward would win it.
THAT'S EXACTLY THE PROBLEM. No forwards in position to accept passes, no forwards coming back to help out d-men in trouble. |

Funny thing is, despite Kaberle being a thousand years older and out of his prime, he still managed to sign a 3 year deal for the exact same money... inflation say what? not even once...
- SofaKingBored
C'mon man, those deals hand cuffed the Leafs for years
the salary cap was implemented and the Leafs were over the cap.
they couldn't get any players and they had to give some up to go with cheaper people. |

IS that the view out of your window?
If so, I'd stay there too. (frank)ing sweet.
Team played better whenever Sundin was injured.
How'd they do when he left for nothing? |

Interesting how Karlsson and Spezza were injured last season, and the Sens played better without them.
Guess we know they should trade them.
Just ignore him. Its what I've been doing. And its been a breath of fresh air
I dont even bother replying to him anymore. |

Kaberle's cap hit was NEVER a problem... EVER... it was always considered a steal... you can complain about the NTC given out to the Muskoka 5 but Kaberle's $4.25 million was a steal from the day it was signed until he landed in Boston... |

Within the system, they can target players in FA, replacing Phaneuf minutes is not going to be hard, I think people over value his worth to the team.
Mark my words, within two years of signing you guys are going to be female doging and moaning about it when you see his play fall off the map. |

The D did not play well last night. The forwards played their best game of the year as far as forecheck and back check
