The more I watch, read and think about this whole thing the more I rethink my position. You know... screw em! questionable hit, blatant knee, and 2 handed slash and no calls other then a minor penalty, well guess what happens. The players say screw you refs, if your not gonna police the game we will. I'm having steak for supper while thinking of Orpik drinking cup o' soup. Don't poke the bear and you can eat solid food. Thornton handled in a way that isn't tolerated but wasn't left a whole lot of choice after having 3 teammates hurt and refs standing around like its no big deal.
Then leafs game refs yet again saw "was that boarding uhhh maybe... nah it wasn't, carry on. No wonder poop gets outta hand.
I know I'm a ahole n socialpath according to the Habs, Leafs, Nucks n bottom feeding Sabres fans. So be it, been called worse by people i actually give a rats ass about.

Yeah, I get that for sure, the whole thing has been sensationalized a bit.

I'm a little on the fence about Orpik's hit, if Loui had the puck I think it was fine. As it was it was clearly away from the play and a penalty, but the hit itself seemed good to me. I've watched it a couple times and I'm still of the opinion he didn't catch his head, looked like impact with the ice that scrambled Loui up.

I agree that if LE's carrying the puck there it's not a bad hit. But it is an intentionally punishing and dangerous hit and you can't just use any swingin excuse to make it. 8 seconds in, he was looking for any reason to hurt a player, as he has before. Picked the wrong team to do it against this time.

I don't know man, why do the Pens care if Shawn Thornton misses 8 games or 15 games? They don't even play each other again this year. Holding Orpik out hurts them, getting Thornton more games does nothing for them.

Wouldn't put anything past them after the Cooke / Savard thing.

Plus this whole thing has been suspicious right from the start. Orpik getting "knocked out" by a 1/4 cocked love tap from Thornton (with gloves on), playing dead on the ice, the stretcher and all the drama, only then to be released a couple hours later and allowed to fly home with the team (not possible with a concussion diagnosis). Then the team diagnoses him with "concussion-like symptoms" and he quietly took to the ice today to practice ...

It wreaks ... I don't know what they're trying to do, but I just don't see a whole lot of legitimacy to any of this whole routine. Maybe they are trying to turn the tables and change the perceived image of their club from being dirty to being the "victim" ... I don't know.

What I do know is that things aren't adding up with any of it, and haven't from the very second that it happened.

Thornton decision should come down by tomorrow. Expect Orpik to make a miraculous recovery and suit up for the first Pens game after the suspension is handed down. Just a feeling ...

the good news is that a few years ago when marchand got suspended, lucic I think, etc..the team stopped playing physical, playing afraid to get calls against them
last night, while not a great game by any stretch, lucic answered the bell
