Thornton must have connected in a sweet spot because there was barely any force behind the punch that hit Orpik. |

And... speaking of suspensions....
I'm back.
It dost seem I was a little harsh on a Sabres fan who wanted to do unspeakable acts to my backside. |

Yup he will play.
We lost Kelly to a double handed slash, Loui to a questionable hit, Thornton to a stupid act, understandable but stupid, and Marchand got his head rattled.
Pens get a phone hearing and a miraculous recovery by Orpik.
Refs needed to call the crap plays on both sides and none of this would havd happened
Of course thats just my opinion I could be wrong. |

So three reckless plays to one half-hearted punch in the head.
B's are so dirty. |

Kelly slashed him right back so that is even. The hit on Eriksson was questionable and some could say was clean as well as a hit i bet most of the bruins would have made. The Neal play was brutal and should be suspended. The play by Thornton was much worse than you said. The way he took him down was dangerous as well as the hit to the head while his dead was so close to the ice. Very dirty play and he will be suspended.

Kelley slashed him back cuz he broke his ankle and it hurt like hell!!!
Thornton basically cradled him when he took him down to avoid hitting his head. Probably the most gentle and least dangerous 'enforcer' in the league. I have zero issue with what he did. If somebody punched, not kneed, Marchand when he was down in a fight I wouldn't raise a stink either. |

Very Interesting:

This guy has come up with a pretty cool suspension system that takes into account only the action, not the outcome.
Amazing that the NHL has nothing even close to this - Aloha Mr. Hand
I have never figured out why the NHL penalizes the result instead of the action. Two people hit from behind and one walks away and the other is hurt it should be the same penalty since it is the same play.

I don't blame Kelley but you can't mention one slash while ignoring the other.
You are sugar coating Thornton. He took him down and punched a defenseless player in the face. If Subban did that same play you would be going wild.

Every fan will always see things more their teams way. This is not exclusive to Bruins fans. It's the most recurring and pointless argument on any hockey board. |

PJ Stock made some great points. Pretty much agree with his analysis.
But what Thornton did isn't excusable. He slew footed a guy from behind who didn't see it coming and punched (I agree not as hard as it looked upon first viewing) a guy guy while he was down.
It was dirty. Now, the Neal knee to the head was equally disgusting imo. |
