I love that this thread is really just beginning - dt99999
the league didn't do themselves any favors with this, and especially the neal ruling
if they meet in the playoffs cindy better be prepared to get killed by a good, clean, honest hit, that puts him through the (frank)ing glass, and into retirement
you want to make a statement, the b's can do it, and cleanly |

Yep, I don't have an issue with 15 for Thorty I figured 12, the bigger issue is how Neal, a repeat offender, with a more dangerous play got 1/3 the games. |

HNIC just said that Bruins are pissed because the word got out on suspension before they were told...I think Dreger was first to report... |

The entire thing needs to be taken in the context of what the league has done, forever, and that is what A LOT of people aren't getting.
You can't pull a Selig here and try to fix all your past ills with one call. The Emery play, the Rinaldo play, Neal, Matt Martin, etc. etc. etc.
If they wanted to make a stand here, then you give Neal 15 and Thornton 15 and you say enough is enough from this point going forward.
For people to still not get that the act and not the outcome is what should be penalized, I don't know what to tell you, you don't get it.
A hit from behind is a ******* hit from behind, X amount of games, if you do it again, it's X +5, end of story. You take the arbitrary ******** out and you create a standard.
What happened today is crap. |

10 games would have been sufficient and even a bit much. He didn't take his gloves off or wind up and has never been close to suspended.
However, he slewfooted and punched a guy that wasn't fighting back (because he's a (frank)ing wussy, a big cheap-shot artist vagina that plays for the scumbag pens).
Thornton loses a lot of money and unfortunately the b's will also miss him.

(frank), not Mc Grattan, he's a puke. We'll be fine til he gets back. They should all chip in and give 22 a GIGANTIC check for Christmas. |

All comes down to blowhard commentators and scribes plus a majority of the league's fans putting their bullsh!t politically correct indignancies in the wrong place. This is like the Salem witch trials.
Plus yeah, clearly, the morons who have been handling suspensions. |

Yeah really. You don't think Z could step up and make that hit 10 times a (frank)ing game if he wanted to? |

McGratton is in Calgary I think, and unless Thornton is really bad with his money, or has a real bad gambling problem I'm sure he'll be just fine. |

Should have been 10 games. I agree that until they stat being consistent and punishing the play not he result then crap like this will always happen.

Hearing's over, suspension done. whoopty sh!t.
Alluded to on another thread with zero response: Cowen or whatever the (frank) his name is makes one of the most brutal head shots you can find and get two measly games. No injury, no fanfare. Which makes the people calling for intent to dictate punishment as putrid as Shanny and his band of merry pranksters, (frank) it, like Brooksy Boy you get what's deserved.

Thornton appealing as he should 15 is way too much. 5-10 would be my max considering a knee to the head by repeat offender is worth 5 games. Arbitrator will knock off 4 games Pens fans will whine n we will run them through the boards in playoffs.

Bert got 20 no way Thornton gets 15. Neal 5, Celine Dion gets 2 for boarding, again no way 15 makes sense. Hockey commentators were saying he should appeal it too.

This is the problem I have, it wasn't an "in the moment" thing, he deliberately skated over there and did what he did when Orpik had already refused to fight both him and Hamilton.
It's completely unlike him, and what he did was very dangerous, but nonetheless he did what he did and he needs to answer for that.
I like Thornton, and I like how he usually plays the game and carries himself, but this was just wrong on a lot of levels. |

I think 15 was fine, I figured 12, close enough. I don't have a problem with the appeal, it's a free process and could save him a few dozen K, why not. PA gets a chance to test the process as well.
Problem isn't the 15 for 22, it's the 5 Neal got, the 2 Phaneuf got, the 0 Cooke got. |
