Just from a Habs point of view, next year with Murray and Bouillon gone, the Habs would have NO depth left on D, no cap space and only 4 D's signed? (not including Drewiski, he sucks). - Symba007
No cap space??? Wakey wakey...the cap is rising. |
|
|
|
If your report was for Markov instead of Subban I could give it some credibility....you don't trade a franchise d-man that's 23 for a forward who will be very good but not the best at his position in the league like Subban is.....the Habs are not in full rebuild and this deal would set them back several years. |

I was hoping Drewiski would end up decent.
Guess not. |

He would have last year if we had a full season. PK is an offense D where Suter is an all around D, not to say PK is bad defensively but he does take more chances which will lead to some mistake from time to time.
Subban keeps improving, he is a better D this year so than he was last year. PK has also a great D partner in Markov, this also helps his development and his stats, people have to take that into consideration.
All that to say...Suter is the better D at the moment as I stated earlier, no question about that. - Symba007
The nice thing is that PK is still developing!!! He is becoming one of the best at a fairly alraming rate. I'm pretty stoked about that if I'm a Habs fan! |

Markov is a big part of PK's development this past year. Markov doesn't get all the respect he deserves IMO. He did slow down a bit but he is so smart with the puck, his vision is amazing, he makes every D partner better. |

Didn't see him much though (with the Habs), didn't play much last season and he's been injured all season so far. |

The margin of difference in offence (Subban's advantage) is greater than the defference in defence (where Suter has the advantage).
Subban's skating is top 10 in the NHL among all players (not just d-men).
Physical play - suter has a slight edge.
Offence - Subban by a mile
Defence - Suter slight edge
Physicality - Suter slight edge
Skating - Subban by a mile
Overall, Subban is the better defenceman. - at9tfca
No.
The defensive margin is far bigger than you suggest. How much have you seen of suter? An unequivocal top few dman in the game. And his offence and breakout is pretty great too.
Skating-subban by a mile? So only the dynamic skaters are elite? Suter is a brilliant and efficient skater as well. You either have stars in your eyes for the home team, or just haven seen nearly enough of suter. Or maybe both.
None of us are downplaying subbans dynamic skills. Great player and ascending quickly.
But it's no coincedence those of us who are unbiased and have no love for either team, would almost all to a man take suter.
By the time subban is 28 maybe this changes. Certainly plausible. But as of today, it's ryan suter |

I honestly see Subban as Markov (minus the experience, hence the mistakes and over thinking at times) with better skating and a better shot. Markov is exactly incredible in his own end, but I think it's the years of experience and learning that have him where he is. I think Subban can learn to be at least as good as Markov defensively, possibly better. |

Markov seemingly always under the radar for some reason. Easily one of the best D-men in the league as well. At one time I'd say maybe even more offensive upside than PK. Not as nimble as he used to be but still a master at his position.
Subban/Markov easily one of the best tandems in the league. |

I'd be upset because I'm huge fans of both, but I think I'd do it for MacKinnon, O'Reilly, Landeskog, & Johnson. |

Hell no to this deal. Its the last thing the Canadiens need right now. Talk about removing the only defensive stalwart we will have for years to come. I do believe, if I am not mistaken, that Emelin is the only signed D for next season. Considering Beaulieu and Tinordi haven't stuck with the big club next year may be painful. |

what a reckless and irresponsible piece of writing this is. PK played 28 minutes last night. Therrien has been gushing about him in the media for the last 2 weeks, talking about how high his level of play is and how they want him on the Olympic team, and you churn out this garbage that he's not happy.
next time you go to PJ Stock for your insider info, stick to the Leafs or Bruins. - DoubleDown[/quote

Now he's just making this stuff up for the hits. Strong rumor today on NHL on XM is that he is close to and 8 & 8 contract. |

I don't think the avs would even do landy and mackinnon for subban and galchenyuk.
Mackinnon is better than Galchenyuk and Landeskog will prob but up 65-70 points this year, and he just turned 21 two weeks ago. Not many young power forwards in the NHL like him. Can't imagine Roy and Subban meshing well with all the drama they both bring |

MacKinnon is better than Galchenyuk eh? And your basing that astute observation on what? Draft position? Their point totals at this early stage in their careers? Get real...... there is no realistic way to draw that or any other comparison of those two players at this stage.
If COL was to want PK Subban then they would have to pony up nothing short of a king's ransom to get him. It would be MacKinnon, plus, plus and plus! COL isn't pursuing him. And MTL is not trading their Norris Trophy winning all-star defenseman for anyone. He will sign long-term in MTL very soon! |
