Why does he have to play on the Penalty Kill when there are plenty of slugs on the team that can stand in the way of a puck on the team? - 2gals1dane
Especially when you consider montreal's penalty kill is ranked 3rd in the league... |

Exactly, there are plenty of other roles for him to fill on the team. Let the people who can only kill penalties play their role. |

His offensive game is closer to Green's. Big shot from the point and all. That better? - sbroads24
Yeah, but to be fair, you're empirically misinformed. And, let's be honest, probably no fan of the black man. So this is kind of a perfect storm for you. |

Not even talking about the Richards comment.. How about him holding out on his contract until he realized they didn't need him, freaking out on Patches in last year's playoffs, and the Therrien issues this season for recent examples? Where there's smoke there's fire. - NugentHallberle
Also, you'd think Subban was the first player to ever hold out...I don't see how this is relevant for team Canada since no one's getting paid anyway...
Freaking out on Patches? yeah that's never happened before, I think this is the first time in history that 2 teammates might of had a little disagreement.
And although Therrien is hard on Subban, it's a tough love approach...and to some (including me) it sometimes comes across as a little too tough and not enough love...but to say they are at odds? No. At least not yet. |

What evidence?
As of right now he plays :44 seconds per game of PK time. As of last night he still made boneheaded turnovers that cost goals. IS he a great player? Of course, is he a complete player? Not yet - sbroads24
Go back and read it.
He made a mistake that led to a goal last night, yes. He isn't going to be perfect. And nobody is saying there is no more room for improvement - far from it. But it seems hard for fans of other teams to give him the credit he deserves for the large improvements he's made to this point. And BTW, he has to rest at some point. He's playing north of 25 minutes a game at this point. :44 seconds of PK is more than he ever played before. Baby steps. |

You know what, I'd also like to see Subban out there blocking shots in the last 2 minutes and maybe breaking a foot to show his commitment to the team...that'll really shut up the haters!
Sure we might miss our best defenseman for 4-6 weeks...but it's worth it to show he's no longer a defensive liability.

Ahhh....I love when the race card comes out.
Funny it was never an issue with Iginla.....and doesn't seem to be an issue with the States and Byfuglien.....although perhaps the States are less racist than Canada. |

So what you're saying is he can't kill penalties? Or he isn't as good at killing penalties? Either way you spin it, he's not good enough defensively to play the PK. Weber, Keith, Pietrangelo, etc all play both ways and in all situations. |

Comparing Iginla and Subban is like comparing Carlton Banks and Stringer Bell.
It would be naive if not willfully ignorant to say there hasn't been an undercurrent of racism in the portrayal of PK Subban.
Or to put it another way, if Luke Schenn, who was drafted in the same year, had PK's skill set and personality, he'd be the face of the league right now. |

Hal Gill should be on Team USA because he can kill penalties.
Also, Gill > Subban. |

No, he could kill penalties if he was needed to do so. Maybe on the Oilers or the Sabres or theJets or the Leafs he would have to Kill penalties but on the habs he doesn't have to. His other skills are needed after the kill and before the kill and at any other point in the game.
