Yes but the way he was talking he was saying that to be a great D, you need to be a hulking D with at least 25lbs more... - Raven33
Not really sure how you came to that conclusion based on my comment?? I think you misinterpretted my comment.
Didn't say one thing about his skill level and in fact I'll quote myself;
"Great offensively but too small in stature. I think he's listed at like 180 lbs. Difficult to be a solid defensive player and stay healthy when the average winger coming at you out weighs you by minimum +25 most nights. "
A relative comment about staying healthy, nothing in regards to whether or not a player needs to weigh more in order to be a great defenseman. |

His offensive game is closer to Green's. Big shot from the point and all. That better? |
|
|

Weber
Pietrangelo
Keith
Doughty
Seabrook
If I'm going with team chemistry and on the big ice I also take the smooth skating Bouwmeester and pair him with the second best Canadian defensemen in NHL, AP.
Any list that has Suter (AMERICAN!!!) in it should be automatically disqualified because the poster clearly doesn't watch enough hockey... - NugentHallberle
Better than PK RIGHT NOW was the key phrase there. Only Keith is performing at a higher level than Subban on that list at this point in time.
Btw Seabrook? Really? |

Not really.
He's such a different player.
Hey, honest question...how's that new GM of yours ?

what are you talking about? what does this have to do with drawing the top assignments? those are special teams situations. don't post if you know nothing about hockey. - DoubleDown
You'll notice all the top defensemen in the league play on the PK and the last minutes of the game when their teams are up (if the dmen are responsible defensively). Most smart coaches put their top offensive players when they are down in the last minutes of the game as well (i.e. "top assignments").
You're telling me if you were up in the final two minutes of the game you wouldn't put out Weber, Pietrangelo, Suter, Chara, Keith, Seabrook? Of course you would, which is why I know I wouldn't have Subban out there either if I was Therrien. The guys a (frank)ing liabilty... |

You haven't been wathcing the Habs for a while... PK's now playing on the PK and the final minutes of a game.
Also take in consideration that the Habs/Therrien have role player for the PK and end of games.
Next time, try not pulling out something from a tsn article... |

Of course he is. But Subban and Doughty will both be wearing red and white come February so that doesn't really change anything |

I know I sure as (frank) wouldn't want Suter or Chara out there defending for Canada in the final minutes.
sneaky bastards. |

Better than PK all around? Yup, every last one of em including Seabrook.
PK is good offensively, fine I get that. I think with likes of Crosby, Toews, Stamkos (if healthy), Tavares, Getzlaf, Perry, Thornton, Couture, Benn, St Louis, etc. Canada should be able to score plenty of goals. It will be shutting down the guys like Ovey, Malkin, Datsyuk, Sedins, Backstrom, Kane, and Kessel that will be the problem for Canada. PK simply doesn't fit the mold for what Canada needs because he's a liability on the ice night in and night out, not to mention his questionable attitude. Plus, looking at last year's playoffs he sure didn't seem to be able to handle the pressure... |

Green sucks. At everything.
I can't believe I tried to defend that asshat because of his injuries. |

Wow, really? Does your site really need more hits this bad?
This trade is terrible for the Habs. Subban is arguably (if being conservative) in the top 5 defenders in this league - those guys really don't grow on trees.
MacKinnon, while having very high potential, has just that... potential.
And discussions with the Canadien's management are already ongoing with Don Mehan (the Canadiens are well aware they will be paying this guy top dollar).
Oh and this non-story of a conflict with the coach? Yeah that's just people like Eklund creating a fuss over nothing. These guys are pros, you think they've never had to deal with tough love from a coach before? |
